Ok well i went to leave my school about a week ago and got to my 1g laser and i put the key in and it wont turn. I have no clue why i thought it was just kind of hard because the steering wheel was locked but after about 2 hours of trying different things to no success i gave up. Now the car has been sitting there for a week and i have till friday to get it home. So if anyone knows of any thing that can unlock the steering wheel atleast or to get the key to turn it would be a great help... Thanks in advance.

I would have broke something after two hours. Did you pull wheel slightly side to side while trying to get key to turn.Sometimes lock just jams up and need to wiggle wheel right.Have seen it on alot of cars. Good luck.

try shaking the wheel side to side
try shaking the wheel while turning the key
try another key

although you may have tried all these. at least one of those always work for me

yeah i wiggled jiggled then eventually slammed it(hehe) but yeah then i started to take apart the steering column but realized i didn't have the tools with me that i would need. But i tried 3 different keys. I was just going to hot wire the damn car but i cant steer it

i tried that again this morning nothing happened again just kinda sat there without moving. Anybody can help me that would be great.

Since you are unclear on the rules let's have a look

Rule #5

Use good forum etiquette:

-Use good grammar, punctuation and spelling in your posts. No slang or getto-speak.

-Fill in your profile completely, including your Name, City, State and vehicle info.

-Do not post info found in our forums on other website forums.

-Avoid using vulgarities, or at least keep them to a minimum.

-Respect our Sig Policy and Gallery Rules.
-No bumping threads (replying to your thread for the sole purpose of moving it to the top of the forum for more exposure). If your question doesn't get answered, it's either because you didn't provide enough info, your profile isn't filled in, or you asked a question that was already answered in our FAQ forum.

-When linking to images that are not hosted here on DSMtuners (like ImageStation for example), if they are larger than 800 pixels wide, please just post a link to it. Do not use the BB IMG code, use the BB URL code instead. If the moderators come across large images, they will likely replace them with the text links for faster page loads.

OK so yesterday I took my car for a drive and everything was ok. This morning I went to start it but the key will not turn in the ignition. I found this odd so I went and found the spare key to see if it would work, but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a way to fix it? If works comes to worst ill have to take the ignition out but I would like an easier way.

Thanks guys

that happened to me a couple of times. the way i got it to work was putting the key in the ignition then moving it back and forth a little bit then it will eventually "loosen" up and turn. also when turning off the ignition press in then turn it off quickly that way it wont get stuck

is your steering wheel locked? i know the key won't turn if the steering wheel is locked. if so, when you turn the key move the steering wheel at the same time. if it ain't that, then i dont know. good luck

My friend had this happen to him once in his dodge caravan. The ignition had basicaly broke while it was in the lock position so it couldn't be moved. Solution was to replace ignition cylinder and everythign worked normal again.

Steering wheel lock, and occasionally the 'remove' button on the side will get stuck in. I usually tap it a few times, wiggle the key back and forth, and try taking the key out and turning it over. Usually one of the above will get it to work, but sometimes I'm stuck for around five to ten minutes screwing with it until it gives up and lets me start the car.

ya mean that when you go to cut it on from radio to ON(start) it does nothing.... or is it STICKING and wont go any farther..?...."the right key6" LOL mess with it al little more ... play with it alot.... mine did the same thing with a newer key(copied one).. Just mess back and forth with it.. if its the right key it should atleast go into on mode unless the key is bent or broken.. or a chip is off of it.. maybe defiant might know more

Is your steering wheel locked? I have this same problem somethimes when my steering wheel is locked but I just turn the wheel and the key like you did and it works for me.

yeah, sometimes you have to give the wheel a good yank to the left to let the key turn in the ignition

Mine does the same thing, mostly when the wheels is locked, i just turn the wheel and play with the key the same time, and it just turns. Unless some of the teeth on ur key are chipped or worn down real good then just try that and it should work.
