Belle River,
I got a call from the machine shop I've been dealing with. He ran into a problem while assembling my head. It seems that the intake valve guides are the wrong size. Well the spot in the head where they go is. I'm having the head completely rebuilt, new valves guides, springs, retainers (all manly). As well as a minor port and polish, just to clean up the casting of any defects.
So the exhaust side went together no problem. On the intake side he needs guide with an O.D. of 0.478. He did not tell me what size the ones he has are, just that he has been unable to find the right size? He seems to think that some thing was done when the head was first built? Seeing as the intake side is different from the exhaust side. Any thoughts on this? Or ideas on what I should do?
