I can't wait to try this. I was just thinking today about how my headlights look very peely. And I think you guys hurt his feelings.

The oem paint code is a87 with a #1 flake. Dupont calls it pewter blue.

As for the headlights, the paint looks nice, but like everyone else it doesn't match the car. Maybe if the face was still chrome and the outer portions of the lights didn't have that blue block in them. You really should post a picture for everyone to see. So what if it looks bad to others, it's your car not theirs.

Here's some cell phone pix...can't really see that well, but you get the drift....they look great in person, make the car look really mean, and i'm gonna match the blue with a greddy stencil on my greddy 24r....

I tihnk that it'll look even better then.

I'll post pics of the car with the Greddy Stencil once it comes back from the shop (hahaha)

Yeah, and the pics of the blue headlights, I thought were from a tutorial LOL... I always wanted a red eclipse just to paint match my headlights to the color of the car... but I have a black eclipse!

Plus, your car's hot period... that first pic you posted... damn! It looks exotic!

So I bought another talon that has been fully converted to a 99 GSX, and I just color matched the projectors to the car. It's bright red in paint, so give me some opinions on what you think! I included a pic of the car, to get an idea of the color. I used the same paint code for the paint. Should look pretty killer once it's all slapped on, some feedback?

Why would you paint your headlight housings red? I'm sorry but that'll look horrible.

Hmm, maybe so that they'd match the car? Have you seen the 2004+ Corvettes? Lambo's? Ferrari's? All have headlight housings matched to paint color...I'll post pics once it's on, should look very exotic.

As for the "LIP" on the car, it's my cars nickname and I still wanted to leave a piece of the "Eclipse" on there, so I decided to leave LIP. Also just so people would ask ;)

Yea, but you sure don't drive a Corvette, Lambo or Ferrari. If you want the exotic look then get an exotic. I'm sorry but I've seen this done before in red and different colors and it's not my cup of tea. To each his own though. :)

Agreed. I can see where you were going with it, but I think if you had painted or left it with the black housings, It would have been alot nicer. Red cars with black housings look mean

Geezus, I'm sick and tired for peole bashing others who try something different. First it's the guy who just finsihed his project car (with red and black sparkle paint) and now this. You guys need to stop being so god damnned bland and generic in your mods and PLEASE STOP BASHING people who try different things. It's ridiculous. If no one tried different things we'd all have the same ol' blitz kit, or same ol projector headlights as everyone else.

I like the headlights. I plan on doing this with my car also but I will will the circluar housings in each light black . How long did you bake it? I'm really nervous about putting a brand new pair of headlights in the oven.. LOL.

I appreciate it Blitzeclips! I was actually thinking about doing the circular housings black, but decided not to, I'd leave that to someone else's car like yours. But yeah, I've never seen a red Eclipse with red projectors before, so I thought I'd try it. When I bolt it up to the car, even without a bumper, it looks really mean (in my opinion). Just has people wondering what the car is...haha. But ya, I preheated the oven to 300 Fahrenheit and left them in there for 10-12 minutes, just long enough so that it's hot to the touch. Make sure no wires dangle out or anything and catch fire, because then you'd be ruining more than just a new pair of projectors. The reason I even tried it was because I was planning on getting regular 2gb headlights anyways, and I was gonna have these sctrictly for show purposes, maybe for next years shootout ;). I'll post pics once they're on the car guys.

By posting his ideas in a forum, he basically agreed to let people praise/bash him on it. He even asked for feedback. If you don't want second opinions, then don't post. It's better than having people lie and say "yeah it looks good" while they snicker and laugh at how ridiculous it looks behind your back. But then again, they say ignorance is bliss. Can't take the heat? Stay out of the oven. Simple.

I personally agree it does looks kind of dumb. You would have been better off with black housing.

I agree. But every post after post is uncalled for. Theres a thing called moral and general etiquette. If you don't like it, cool. But if the last 4 people who posted said it already, common decency should tap your blind ass on the shoulder and slap you in the face. Ah, common decency; can't find that anywhere these days, eh? :notgood:

OP- What did you remove from behind the housing? You don't just throw them in the oven like that, or do you?

Blitzeclips, I just had to take out the bulbs before I baked them. There is really nothing else you can take out from the projectors. The heat doesn't mess them up in anyway, and if you're worried it will, try 275 for 10 minutes instead....because this is probably the 4th time I've baked headlights, so it's quite simple for me...you learn the right points to break it up. Make sure you remove all the silver clips around the headlight before placing in the oven, as to let the headlights expand away from each other as the silicone heats up. After baking, make sure to not grab them with your hands, as they are going to be quite hot! I use flathead screwdrivers, 2 at once, and it works quite well. Have them apart in 10 seconds after baking.

Oh please! That's only because you and him both like the same crap. What he did is not original at all. I've seen it done countless of times on many different cars including 2G's and thay all look ridiculous (IMO). He posted and I gave my opinion, part of doing that is expecting criticism so deal with it.

Is it the same deal for painting your tailight housings?
I bought my car with altezza tailights and theyre bugging me, i think they are horribly ugly, and i dont want to tint because i dont need anymore tickets.
So i was thinking about pulling my tailights apart and painted the chrome a shiny or flat black, make them look less ricey.

Yay or Nay?

P.S. to get the tailight apart would i need to use a heat gun, like on the headlights or how?
