Well my e3 16g broke after only 700 miles, and i had been pushing some coolant so it seemed it was time for some work. I plan on going hx35, comp 272's (probably), bc springs/retainers, arp head studs, new hg (maybe just stocker?). May also do some fuel work and go e85.

Anyway finally got the head off today and wanted to see what you guys thought. Looks OK from what i can tell, but this is my first hg job so i am a newbie :) . Minor build up on the valves and i think they are brownish from the lucas oil octane booster i used for a bit.

If the head hasnt been rebuilt now would be the time. Bronze guides, New valve seals. and a valve job.

Been trying to find out but i cant find a whole lot of info. Is i ok to reuse the stock retainers? Or is it worth getting new ones? Meaning BC springs are like under $100 and with the retainers its over $200.
