Will this head be ok to use after cleaning, new valves, seals etc..

It appears that a machine shop could re-seat them. unless you have a way to seat the new valves. if you get a bigger bore valve then they will have to be re-seated and youll probably see little gains HP wise from extra flow.

yea that head is fine as long as the seats arent hurt them they can just be cut and new valves lapped in.

should be a simple fix, a valve job and surface and you should be just fine

you need to find out why the valve burnt in the first place,

a few things to read so you have some info....

I would have the nead pressure tested to start...

then be checked for flat

the head should also be measured for thickness, new thickness is 5.200 with a min thickness of 5.185 if you are thinner than 5.185 you will want to get a thicker head gasket

if the head is warped or has fire rings, and needs surfaced, DO NOT let the machine shop belt surface your head

weather you run a composite headgasket or a MLS the surface finish should be about like this...

then the seats will be cut (you may or may not need a new seat installed in the burnt valve hole)

also you will want to have the springs tested, good chance they are wore out...

if you plan on running stock cams or a mid lift cam, the BC1100 springs are a good drop in spring and will work with the factory retainers on the 4G63
now you may want to have your valves back cut...

Thanks guys. This head came off a car I used to own 4 years ago. I'm not sure what caused it or even know how to find out. I bought it like this, just swapped on a different head on to fix it. Should I have the machine shop take it apaprt or can I go ahead and do that? I'm wanting to get a better head gasket and head studs and since I had this head laying around I figured I could rebuild it and put some cams in while I'm at it. Any recommendations on a head gasket and studs. I wanting 500hp. mods in profile.
