Alright guys, I'm here for more knowledge/wisdom AND references.
I have been going through a list of things the 30 year chrystler trans. specialist has given me to get my car back up to par. So far this is my list:

Torque Convertor: Check (thanks to torco enterprises)
Flex Plate: Check (DSMGraveyard)
*Plate-Engine to Transmission: MIA
Block to transmission dowells: Check (ExtremePSI)
*Left Side (Drivers Side) CV Shaft (with hangar bearing):MIA

I really am drawing blanks for these last 2 parts. I know on the CV I *COULD* replace the boot and make sure it's sealed, but at this point in time, I would rather just replace it, because after everything I am putting into the build, the last thing I want is to have the car in the garage during the short summer up here in AK.

Now that my parts issue has been addressed, I was wondering if ANY of you out there has or knows someone that has a band adjustment tool for the w4a33 trans, I'm unsure if it was a transmission specific tool, or if it covered multiple chrystler transmissions.

Still no reply from him, I checked their site, but only found 23 items total, none of which I need.
On a side note, the priority issue in this thread would have to be the band adjustment tool. Im sure someone somewhere has one, I'de be more than willing to buy and sell back after the specialist uses it. Seeing as the tool is seemingly rare, I can count on not being able to just pay for shipping both ways to borrow it. So if you read this thread, and you know someone that knows someone that might have it, PLEASE help a fellow tuner out and give him a shout.

He doesn't have much stuff listed but he has just about everything.

Te be honest, I don't even know what a band adjustment tool is. Sorry.

A Band adjustment tool adjusts the shift bands that are around each section of the planetary gear set so they can either shift sooner or later when each hydraulic shift valve is engaged.

In an old 3 speed auto tranny, you'd have three planetary gear sets and a band would be around each gear set that would stop the outer ring gear when engaged.

Usually was a requirement for old hydraulic valved actuated transmissions and a maintenance requirement to get adjusted on a period basis.

DSM1G90 hit the nail right on top of the head. So, DSM, know where I could find one of those little gems.

So you did find the tool? I recently searched and searched and never did find more than the wrench that holds the servo. I didn't want to pay the $45 so I made a Flintstones version with a cheapo socket for the locknut and a turbo ring with tabs welded to it for the servo wrench. I guess I got it right, it shifts and kicksdown smoothly. I guess time will tell.

Anyways, if you do get one post some pics of it.

No, I havnt found it. The guy that I took my car to, 30 year dsm specialist, made a Flinstones tool as well. He used to have acess to the tool I/We Desire occasionally, but when the chrystler dealership up here changed owners, all the technicians were carrying out tools by the truckload. :( someone up here has it. I would really like to get ahold of it, so it's all done right, but from what you say your tool worked pretty well. Might just have to give up on finding it. Translab has a sheet that comes with directions on how to set it without the tool. but man... after the IPT Rebuild and the Translab kit, i'de rather just have it done right.

Sweet find man, did you write that up?? That's a wealth of knowledge. Should find one of those for the W4a33 :) (thats what i'm running):hellyeah:

Ebay link - Hope that is okay

MILLER TOOL MD-998916 STEALTH KICKDOWN SERVO WRENCHES - eBay (item 280551411826 end time Dec-18-10 02:05:31 PST)

You will also need the wrench

Kent-Moore Hyundai 09454-33000 Kickdown Servo Wrench

and the rod that holds it in place, which I haven't got a link to.

Bottom line is you need to loosen, adjust, and torque the rod/locknut, without pushing or turning the piston. I saw another link that referred to setting to a given clearance, while assembling the trans.

Hope that helps

Thank you very much VisegripMech!!!
The specialist mentioned something about the clearance as well. Now the only things I have left to find is:

Front Left CV Shaft (with hangar bearing)
The rod that holds everything in place. :hellyeah:
Once again thank you so much with helping me on this treasure hunt.

Everything is found. never did find the complete set of tools for band adjustment. We made it work. Flinstone style. Just got done sitting in carquest for over an hour hunting down the CV shaft, which are a 2 piece assembly. Anyways, car should be done in roughly a week, thanks for all your help everybody!
