I'm having an issue with adjusting the clutch pedal on my 1g. New Clutch, New pivot ball, New clutch arm, New OEM throw out bearing, fluid bled and triple checked for air.

I'm following the video on youtube from Jacks Transmissions. I am adjusting to find the point where the slave stops being able to push back as per the video, but I run out of adjustment on the threaded rod of the Master before i find that point.

I don't recall, but I believe the Master is aftermarket. Maybe it was manufactured with a shorter adjustment rod?? has anyone ran into this issue before?

Thanks in advance
Mike

Are you having clutch drag issues? I myself and any other member on this site will tell you to ONLY run an OEM master cylinder:thumb:
No, car isn't running yet. Should be very soon, just trying to get the baseline down before first start and this problem seemed odd to me. Might have to buy OEM master and compare rod length.

I'm personally not a fan of Jack's method. There is a freeplay spec, and if adjust to that proper freeplay your clutch engagement should be perfect.

I've done it by freeplay on my 3000gt and I did it to my cousin's Laser after he got annoyed trying to get his dialed in.

Do you have a link or a rough write-up of how to do this on a DSM?

You still adjust the rod, but you just press the pedal with your finger and measure the distance from the top to resistance.

I don't remember the exact spec for the DSM, bit for instance the freeplay spec on my 3000GT is like 1/2" to 5/8"

The last part I usually do is once the freeplay is in spec I start the car, leave the clutch fully pressed, and push the throttle to near redline to see if the car tries to creep.

If it creeps then further adjustment is needed.

I’ve run out of rod on several cars. I attach a nut to the clevis to give me more thread.
