Ive noticed that all of my other gears shift smoothly except for third gear, Im not feeling or hearing any grinding at all but it just shifts a little harder than the other gears. I dont really think its a syncro issue because its just slides into second like butter. Is this anything to be worried about?

If you really feel concerned, perhaps change the fluids in your transmission. Redline seems to be a common choice, I've also heard good things about GM Syncromesh and Royal Purple. Everything I've read or looked into, fluids can make a large difference. (assuming awd) I'd go ahead and change your transfer case fluid and your rear diff grease too.

Have you tried swapping the transmission fluid?

no ive only been driving it for about 3 days I just got it. If its no big deal ill just keep driving it because I dont really care as long as it wont kill my syncro or something. If it persists ill get snycromesh although I didnt have much luck when using it on my eclispe gt that car still grinds like clockwork.

Describe "goes into gear hard". You get no grinding at all? At what rpm? Have you tried shifting it at high rpm quickly? If all other gears are like butter it still sounds like a syncro to me. This could eithe be a worn sychro ring itself, a misadjusted clutch (common). Or a combination of both. What year transmission? Is it the original unit? Check the vin stamp.

I personally (along with many many others) do NOT recommend using BG syncromesh. Just get the appropriate gear oil for your different drive train components. I prefer Redline, but do your own research for your needs/wants. Change all the fluids if your dealing with AWD as you likely don't know when it was last done. Some other things that have solved my 3rd gear issues beside fresh fluid would be solid shifter base bushings and solid cable bushings on the trans side. You will also want to inspect your shift cables for and damage/excessive wear. One more thing to rule out a syncro, would be to bleed the clutch line and inspect the master and slave cylinders. If the problem still exists after these things, it is likely a worn syncro.

Any 75w or 80w/90 GL-4 manual tranxaxle fluid will be fine.

Don't do GL-5 since this fluid is loaded with sulfur and will destroy the brass syncros.

I use Redline MT-90.

To check for syncros is this trick that does work, or I wouldn't be posting it here:

With the motor on idle an foot off the clutch pedal, gradually push the shifter to any forward gear and you will feel resistance along with the idle RPM dropping slightly. With no grinding, the syncros are doing their thing in slowing down the input shaft of the tranny.

But, if you hit any grind on any forward gear, that syncro is worn out and needs to be replaced.

Its a gst from 97 with original trans. And when I shift at high or low rpms it does not grind. It just feels as if theres more resistance than the other gears.

You should also make sure the shifter is oem and not a flebay knockoff short shifter, also check the shifter bushings for wear too.
but assuming you did all that I'd say replace the trans fluid, and when you drain the transmission, watch for any metal shavings.

I also like to use the redline mt90 gear oil in the trans, while it is pricey I'd rather use a proven oil then risk it all.

I like to Use shoockproof lightweight gear oil in the t case, and rear diff too, while some guys use heavy duty shoockproof gear oil, but I have had no issues with the lightweight.
