GM MAF translator

yes i am going to be buying a GM translator and i had some question about it? i have been doing some reading and looking for my answers but cant. one of them is do i need any kind of dsm link or anything after install?

You don't need a translator with Ecmlink V3 it has that function built in.

With speed density you don't use a any maf. They are 2 completely different things. You start with Ecmlink that will give you the option to run a stock maf, gm maf, EVO etc.. or you can chose to run speed density if you want to run speed density than you use an IAT sensor and MAP sensor instead of a maf.

The cost of a maft is more than the price difference between V3 lite and full

Dont go crazy for now, you should crawl before you walk. Sometime the Moderaters forget most of us are not as knowledgable as them and say things like speed density and all of a sudden we want to know whats that.

If your heart is set on the Maf and translator then try to get it used with a Safc and start from there. Once you've reached the limit of that set up, then you should be knowledgeable enough to know what path you want to take.

Maft can be gotten for less than 375, then you have to get a eprom of you dont already, add the cost of a conversion and your over 425. Then the intercooling pipe, and air filter. Get link and run the set up as stock then he will have a nice tuning solution to whatever comes his way.

I agree he should run link and the stock maf, but if you read the post he really wants to run the GM maf for the whole Open Bov affect. And the best and cheapest way would be used GM Maf, translator, and S afc 1. Sould run him about 250-300. Once he maxes that out, he should know what path he wants to take.

I'm closing this as it's getting way out of hand. You have all the options it seems, and if not, I'll list them here.

1. MAFT and GM MAF - crappy tuning
2. SAFC, MAFT, and GM MAF - better but limits you to 660cc injectors
3. Link lite, MAFT, and GM MAF - much better, no injector limit
4. Link full, ECMTuning GM MAF cable, and GM MAF - no MAFT unit to mess with
5. Link full, SD setup - best option, will take more time to setup
6. Either link setup (lite or full) and stock MAS - still probably the best/easiest option unless you plan on flowing A LOT of air (think 450-500+hp setup); even still, stock MAS has been run into the 9's using link, so you don't need a GM MAF
