fp dsm 86hta results

I'm looking at getting a dsm 86hta.

I'm looking for peoples thoughts on it. And how much it will flow? Also whats your spool times like.

I have a Magnus stage 3 head with hks 272 cams(in/ex) and full manley i beam and piston, eagle crank bottum end.

Looking to get a idea if this turbo is ideal for my low tens, high 9 second goal. But still have street mannors.

Well I pulled the trigger on the 86 hta because I got a STEAL on it. Just wondering on flow chart or If anyone has a log with how much lbs they forced.

FP website says it's basically a HTA 3586 with a FP30 turbine housing. The HTA3586 flows 75 lbs/min

I was running 135mph on a 3300lb car and slow launch, great turbo. Pump gas with meth at 42psi.

What "specific" turbo was Devin running in that vid? The 3582? Dsm82? Dsm86?

Of course I'm trying to find out more info on his car anyway but not finding much, other than knowing he's running a Super 99 turbo now I think???

I believe that run was done with a 3794; 67mm/94mm compressor versus a 35R's 61mm/82mm wheel. Big difference.

There was also a period of time when Devin had a HP6766 on the car, nearly-identical in size to the 3794. Not sure exactly which turbo ran the 8.27, but it's now using a Super99.

Not according to the info in the video, or multiple threads I've read about that build, or his dyno video. They all say FP 3586HTA.

Maybe he upgraded but I'm talking about the Dsm86, not the 3586. However there's a thread somewhere where he states specifically that he was on a Dsm82 at one time. I'll try and find it later tonight. Heck, he's on my Facebook. If I can't find it, I'll just ask him directly.

That part is obvious. Lol. As to which turbo Curt Brown was using, this is all I can find right now but I know he was on the Dsm82, then upgraded to the 3586 in the T3 housing. I had to search the Link forums. I know there was more out there about this but I'm not gonna spend hours to find it. Lol. Anyway, if anyone knows the fastest time on a Dsm86 (with a bolt-on housing), please chime in.

I don't recall honestly, plus I changed a bunch of stuff in between turbo's, there both good! Id say real street car FP housing, full race car T3.

Curt ran the HTA3582R in the FP turbine housing.
And to back up Brick's statement, Curt went 156.8mph on the fp bolt-on turbine housing.

The only difference between the dsm86 and hta3586 is one has like .12aR bigger hot side and t3 the turbos are the same thing

It's the exact same turbo; the 3586 has a .82 a/r T3 housing and the DSM86 has FP's .69 a/r stainless DSM bolt-on housing. Either will perform fairly-equally as FP went above and beyond when designing their FP30 and FP35 turbine housings.

Inthink the idea was just that. Have a great turbo on a stock manifold......

People that already have a t3, would opt for a T3 housing the compressor and turbine are both the same, the chra is the same. Fp designed that housing as to be equivilant to the t3's

But because FP kicks ass, they made an even more kick ass turbo that is in fact bolt on. I dont believe there is anyone complaining about the fp35 housing being a restriction.

I get what everyone is saying. But in my opinion, it's like saying a Holset HX40 with a BEP bolt-on housing is the same turbo as an HX40 with a BEP T3 housing. And everyone here is gonna say it's not the same. I've seen plenty of results with a 3586, but don't really see any with the bolt-on housing. Not trying to argue about sizes, flow, etc. I just wanna see the results others are making. Wondering if I'll eventually have to be the one showing the results, if my money from the government will ever come in that they owe me so I can finish my motor. Until then I'm just watching everyone else. Sigh...

No cause the hx40 is a .55 vs a .70 the fp is a .69 vs a .82 it's like .13 diff not .25+

So in reality if it existed. Your argueing a .70 AR vs a .82AR not q .55vs a .70

Oops - math check:

.15 difference ------ .13 difference

But it might be more telling to look at the % difference:

27% difference ------ 19% difference

which is more like what you are saying.

Well, a .69 won't flow as much as a .82.....period. They might be close, but they're not the same and the results won't be either. Onto other news now??? Lol. You guys are killing me.

Okay after hours of searching, I finally found the record for this turbo.

Nevermind, I read a little further and it looks like a T3 with an adaptor plate to fit the FP manifold. Ugghhh...still awesome numbers though.

Get a 6" exhaust, itll flow more than a 3 or 4" but like i said before, no one is complaining about a 3 or 4" exhaust being restrictive same thing
