Found another car.***Update*** ANOTHER car!

I was not able to go to VA this weekend because my sisters cat was sick and she doesnt want it to die while we gone. But my dad called and told me that my brother in law is taking me out tomorrow to look at eclipses. Well, i was looking on autotrader and they have a 1999 Eclipse GS-T silver, auto (my dad wants me to have auto for first), chrome wheels and 56k miles for $9,988. Here is some pics. We know the people that work at the delarship because we have looked there before, but here it is.

Its an awesome car. Its a MUCH better deal than what i was looking at...I am trying to talk my dad into letting me get a turbo, i told him that insurance was about the same as the GS. I really hope I can get a turbo. I would jizz myself if he let me. Alright guys, give me your opinions. My dad said to look for cars between $7,500-$9,500. He will be financing my car through his work union, the new job he just started. I cannot wait.

Hmmm...not sure if insurance is the same as a GS but my GSX was ridiculously high....my insurance placed it it the same category as a rare sports car. Don't know what that was about but I love your car. I love all 2G's. The look is just so slick in my opinion. Just wish it was as fast as a 1G. Congrats anyhow!

Thanks for the reply. I have not got the car yet, I am simply going to look at it tomorrow and reporting back to my dad on Sunday if we like it or not. I am hoping for a test drive. I cannot wait.

That's a good buy, talk your Dad into it! The extra insurance will be worth it

Kinda too bad it's not AWD, but it sure looks like a good car. Check it over well for body repairs. The motor looks un-dicked.

If you get it, take it easy with it for a few months.


And if your sister loses the cat, give it two day and then get down to the shelter and rescue another one. It's the only cure for the loss, and you get to save one besides.

Nah, she has had the cat for 14 years. And she has two other ones, so thats not a possibility.

Yeah, it does look like a good car and I am going to look at it today. I'm pretty excited. And only thing I will do from the beginning is some exterior/interior stuff. The engine will stay put for a while, then ill put a header and a full cat-back and an intake, maybe bov.

Well guys, went to look at the car, turns out, it was ok, but I do not want an automatic. The interior was not leather and just was not what i was looking for. So, we were leaving and we drove past a mazda dealership, and I saw a red 2gb eclipse. So we pull in, and it is a 1998 Eclipse GS Red, 5 speed, panasonic cd player, aftermarket exhaust, 50k miles for $8k. Its a steal. Not only that, the insurance would be much cheaper. There is not a scratch on the car, it was well maintained, car fax certified, everything worked. So, I called my mom and told her, and my dad is gonna call me back at 5. My parents might be coming in next weekend to stay and I think we going to look at some cars. The guy told me to email him throughout the week, as it will sale fast. But my dad and I are gonna talk and we might be able to work something out. The car is so awesome. First thing I would do is, rip the exhaust off and order me a header and full catback. But jeez, this car is a steal. I really hope my dad and I can work something out. Here is a picture of it.

Only turbo models and the OZ edition GS came with the basket handle wing. That's why it is commonly referred to as the "turbo wing".

Also, Kev, you should get the GST. Honestly, most here with a N/T will agree to kicking themselves when they had a choice between the turbo and N/T and ended up with the N/T. Insurance shouldn't be too drastic anyway, unless you have a bad history. Right now insurance companies look more at your age than the car anyway. Insurance on anything is going to be high, so why not pay for something that's worth it?

Sorry, the GS is NOT a steal.

5 speeds are cheaper than automatics, and the turbo is well worth 2k. Not to mention the GST is way better looking, and a year newer.

If you don't want auto, don't buy that silver one.. but you will regret it every day of your life that you bought a GS. May sound harsh... but how great is an eclipse that any oldsmobile can keep up with? Spend 8,000 bucks for ~120hp at the wheels? no thanks. my 2 cents.

JESUS CHRIST! What is u guys problems??? READ! I cannot have a turbo and my dad said its the bottom line. I said I am not going for a race car. I need a real nice looking car to take me to college and back. I dont care about a turbo. The way I see it is high maintenance and lots of $$$. Maybe when I get older and I get more money to afford the payments and the maintenance and the insurance, then I might get a turbo. But for now, im getting a GS.

Sorry KEV, Most of us are into the DSM line for the bang for buck stats. The good looks are just a great added bonus. Bummer that your dad won't pop for the turbo. My Ex wife told me "Don't give the Talon to our son" these are awsome cars and can easily get one into trouble. Welcome to the DSM world (hopefully)

Hey, I just seen the same exact car for sale yesterday as the red one you showed above. But its in my town i think its like 6,999 or something,Not sure if its auto or what anyways, The way i see it is this... You know what you want, Work a deal with your dad and get things straight.. Go from there, The cars you have been posting are definatly nice, turbo or nonturbo it is a free car. Even if the car isnt turbo, All your friends and everyone else is going to like it. The 2g's are really nice. The only ones that i think would say anything are the jealous people:thumbdown So, Good luck on finding a car and remember, ITS FREE!!!!

You should go with a late 90s prelude. It is comparable (if not faster - sorry dont know my stats here ) to the GS, looks better IMO, more reliable (hondas last forever!), good on gas, and probably cheaper on insurance. In my opinon right now a DSM doesn't fit your needs, I think a honda or toyota celica maybe would be better for you. Just my $0.02!

Ya but he has his mind set on an eclipse. I rember before i got my the one i had now i hadto buy a shitty mx3 after i sold my old 1g and i hated it. my parents kept telling me everyday that they see a nice car here and a nice car there. That only got me mad, I had my mind so set on what i wanted i didnt even bother glancing at any other kind of car.
But i bought my car, but i got it for only 700 and sold 300 worth of the free parts i had gotten with it so im not complaining now. Again, Goodluck finding what you want.

Trust me man I've been in this situation a lot and you always gotta think about whats gonna be better in the long run! Dude, the GS is a 5 speed. The GS-T was an auto. if i am getting one, its the GS.

Thank you guys for some more sensible replies. And yes, ANY kind of Honda is out of the picture. NO thanks. And no, no, no, no, no, i will not have any other kind of car. See, my car is not staying stock. If i got a prelude or civic or celica, id have to modify the exterior, and those shits look ugly unless u have an ass load of money to put into it. i want an eclipse and thats that.
