Well,

I was on the Craigslist and came across a guy parting out his 1995 gsx. Somebody pulled out in front of him and wiped off the front of the car. 65,XXX mile car. Basically zero rust. The insurance company totalled it, so he bought it back for parts for his awd talon.

One of the parts was the left upper control arm strut mount sheet metal. :)ohdamn:

So I buy the center diff, center console, and glove box from him. Tell him I want the rear suspension. He says its already claimed. So a week later he calls me says its available. I stop by and (long story shorter) agree to pickup the shell less motor & ECU, transmission, interior, front sheet metal (of course), and left suspension. I spent 10 bucks in gas and 1 1/2 hr getting it into my trailer without front suspension. Including the Salvage title. Nice.

The damage to the front end consists of radiator support and right headlight bucket smashed up. The right inner fender support needs knocked back into shape.

The plan is to put a roll cage in it, and build a track car. Would there be any advantage to putting back together for the steet? These things aren't that rare to justify the cost, but I could find a GS for cheap...

IMO I wouldnt try to get it streetable. Only way I would get it running again is to tube the front end like shown below. Only because in the event of another front end collision things would end up worse then before from already fatigued metal. My dad is a lead bodyman and particularly works on the frame machines at his shop, so I see a lot of the work he does and he explains it to me.

So, like you said I think just a track car would be in order!

Went a different direction.

Decided to turn it into an educational tool.

Check out the spreadsheet in the link provided previously. This should turn into the definitive Component Weight List....
