found 2g gsx

Allright guys, i found a 97 gsx with 77k for 9 grand. I already put a refundable deposit on it so noone else can get it. The salesman said there is a clutch problem. He said that it has to do with the hydrolics... maybe the slave cylinder, but i dont know. The car comes with a free 6 month 6500 mile warranty. They said they were going to fix it next week. The question is should i stay away from this car, or should i stick with it? The car really is sharp. Its that red-orange metallic looking paint with tan leather int. Please help me with your thoughts on this.

Oh also when i was doin a thorough check on the car, i noticed a tiny tiny tiny bit of grease under the car... like on the bottom of the oil pan. This is normal right?

Could be crankwalk also, if the clutch is falling to the floor, not disengaging etc.Make sure you check it out well.Other than that, it looks good.

PFFTTTT!! if it was crankwalk you would hear a very noticable "clunk clunk clunk* in the engine. why get all these new DSM'ers afraid of the boogie monster, crank walk? its no biggie. anyways man, my guess is it may be the hydraulics, just a simple clutch adjustment, or the synchros. if the salesman said it was gonna be fixed then dont worry about it. just make sure to look it over really well afterwards and take it on a good long test drive. the car looks beautiful itself though. hardly any wear on the leather or anything. probly was owned by an older person before, good thing! anyways man, car looks clean...and i wouldnt worry bout the bit of oil on the oilpan. may be left there from the last oilchange when the plug was pulled. worst case scenario, bad gasket on the oil pan or something...no biggie. good luck and have fun boosting!

I have known many people where the slave cylinder fails in a 2g, it has happened to mine. I have always thought of it as a common thing to go out. should be fine.

Yeah its a very common thing, every other 2g owner that i hang w/ around here has had to do that same fix. Its no biggie and good to get out of the way now. Enjoy the car

I had to replace mine as soon as I bought it with about the same about as miles as yours. Get that GSX and take care of her.

It's also liable to be a cracked hydraulic line. Replace it with a stainless hose from RRE.

From what I can see, get it. They started out fairly rare, and are only getting more so.

First thing, yank the ashtran and cupholder, lower the parking brake, tighten up the nut, and get rid of the raging boner look.
