Found a 98 Eclipse GSX

So I found this older lady that bought this car brand new back in 97. It's the gunmetal type color, with the purple pearl in it. It's fully loaded with the factory sunroof and grey leather interior. 5 speed. It only has about 50K-60K miles on it. She didn't actually remember... she hasn't driven it in a while. Last year she only put like 1000 miles on it. It's never been driven in the winter and was always treated VERY well!

I havn't actually seen or driven the car yet, so what are the things I should look for when I go see it? She is asking like $8000 or so for the car... she hasn't given me a final price yet... she's coming up with a fair number based off of market value. Thanks guys!

Sounds like a good find. Take it for a test drive and see how it drives. Ask about any problems shes had with it, and ask about the maintance history of the car.

Finding the AWD DSM Models in good condition (stock) and with low mileage is actually pretty hard to do these days. I'd take it for $8000 definately.

Well everything is possible! It is the 5 speed I am suprised about, the most!
But if it is in fact truthfull, do not hesitate to get it, or even lower her asking price!

And nandaguides has 98 gsx's with 70k miles, leather seats and power sunroof from 8,870 to 11,145...so yea, 8k is pretty good

neway, GSXs are not very rare where i live but they are never below 8k so i would say this is a damn steal, especially if it is not modified, virgin GSXs are very rare. If you see any engine mods, chances are that her son drove it and she is selling it as if its hers.

She doesn't actually have any kids... she's a pharmacist and the only hard driving she did with it, was 10 laps around Watkins Glen... haha... she said she never went over 100mph with it though... which I could care less... I just told her I can't hold that against her... I would have done the same thing.

It's definitely a 5 speed... definitely 100% stock.

Hasn't anybody noticed that all the nice cars seem to be bought or driven by an elderly couple or an old lady?

Even though that GSX sounds like a sweet deal. Go check it out, drive it around and check out the forums for info on what things you should look for.

I got my 90 GSX with only 65k miles on it, not too bad for a 16 year old car.

well... everything seems to be ready to go if everything checks out with the car. I'm going to look at it tomorrow with a check in my hand, ready to drive it home. We settled on 8K for the price and it even comes with an extra set of Eagle Talon wheels with BRAND SPANKIN NEW Blizzaks!! She got them just in case she was going to drive it in the winter... which she never did.

hells yeah I bought the car!! She was originally asking for $10K for the car... I got her down to $8K... only because my bank only gave me low book for the car... so she's like... I guess I can do it for 8...
