Got me a 98 Eclipse GSX

So I had been looking for a while and finally found me a pretty nice 98 gsx pretty much completely stock, it has a 3" turbo back exhaust, and a stage 2 clutch and he said an after market BOV. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

So I have a few questions now.

The car seems to raddle a little especially going over a speed bump or driving down the highway the hatch seems a little shacky not too horrible, just wondering is this normal?

The clutch seems a little stiff in 1st gear and going into 2nd once it's crusing it shifts into all other gears just fine and really smooth. I am use to driving a dodge neon sxt 5spd manual.

Next the car has this blue light on the dash near the heating nobs that lights up when I turn off the car. I think it is some sort of an alarm but the guy said he never used a car alarm and only used the key to open the doors and start the car. So I dont know if it has an alarm or not.

So curious what you guys think, and stuff I should check to make sure my car is going to be running smooth.

My gsx is so loud over bumps all the windows rattle if there all the way down i think this is a common problem with 2gs.

I got it in Anchorage.

It is maroon with a black hood. The interior is black leather.

The car shouldn't have any rattling noises, but it probably will.

Common sources:
-Windows - Especially if they are down at all. There's a little plastic clip on the bottom that is made out of a plastic that breaks easily. Replace the clips and lube up the tracks that the window runs in. Makes a world of difference.
-Hatch - There are 2 rubber stopper near the back of the hatch on the car side. I wish I had a photo. They are little black ribbed rubber rectangles. Sometimes they wear out and this can cause some of the rattle. Sometimes, the plastic panel covering the underside of the hatch has broken clips.

But if you have any rattle coming from the steering, suspension, driveline, or engine bay.... that's not normal.

knochgoon24 thanks! I will be sure to check out those areas you mentioned.
I am not completely sure but i think the suspension rattles I will take a look at it tomorrow. may as well check the drive train as well but i think that is fine. Also may as well do an oil change and check the tranny fluid while im at it.
5w-30 will be fine for oil? and what about the tranny fluid?

You'll be fine with a 5W-30 or 10W-30 with your cooler weather.

Personally, I run a 5W-40 year round here in PA.

Yah I think I'll stick with 5w-30 the guy said that's what he has always used. Any special brand? I usually go Valvoline or mobil 1 in my other car.

I only run synthetic.

It will be my dd, but I want it to have nice power. It's not going to be a track car or anything. But i want to be able to go fast if the occasion should come up
