So I had been looking for a while and finally found me a pretty nice 98 gsx pretty much completely stock, it has a 3" turbo back exhaust, and a stage 2 clutch and he said an after market BOV. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

So I have a few questions now.

The car seems to raddle a little especially going over a speed bump or driving down the highway the hatch seems a little shacky not too horrible, just wondering is this normal?

The clutch seems a little stiff in 1st gear and going into 2nd once it's crusing it shifts into all other gears just fine and really smooth. I am use to driving a dodge neon sxt 5spd manual.

Next the car has this blue light on the dash near the heating nobs that lights up when I turn off the car. I think it is some sort of an alarm but the guy said he never used a car alarm and only used the key to open the doors and start the car. So I dont know if it has an alarm or not.

So curious what you guys think, and stuff I should check to make sure my car is going to be running smooth.
 
first thing....................... get rid of that white painted garbage on the dash! looks so out of place !

Mine came with silver painted trim pieces, looks like shit in pics. But in person it doesn't look so bad. Though why on earth anyone would paint the all black interior is beyond me. Most DSMers would beg borrow or steal to get the black interior from a 99.

Also on oils, I would consider Valvoline VR-1 according to the FP pdf that is floating around it has higher Zinc/Phos counts that either royal purple or castrol syntec. And its competitively priced. Only thing that was better bang/buck was brad penn but I don't really want to have to order oil on the internet.
 
Stage 2 clutch would usually be a similar to stock disc, perhaps a bit better friction material. It is usually rated for near stock, a bit higher perhaps.

I am running an excedy stage 2 and its fine with my current mods list.

Hey someone posted a DIY on how to re dye your seats and carpet using a huge bucket and like walmart dye and leaving it to soak for a day. The carpet and seats came out pretty good and they just krylon painted the rest of the interior black with a few coats and clear coat so it stays. Im honestly about to do it the person who wrote the DIY did it with like 40 or 50$ Ill see if I can find it.

Well I ended up ordering my Redline MT90 off of amazon, free shipping :)
SO I was looking into intakes and I have been reading that brand name vs ebay makes no difference. I was looking at this one MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 2.0 2.0L GST GSX Air Intake 95-99 | eBay If it is a good one I will order it. I do have a question though, if I upgrade my turbo in the future does that mean I would need a new intake?

I'd replace those orange side-markers on the front bumper with clear ones. You can get away with it (legally) since the headlights have orange on the side. I've never had a cop mention it. Anyway, it would be so hot.

Hopefully yours don't let moisture in. Try and seal them up.
 
Thanks nasty that does sound like it would Look better. I'll get those ASAP. I think I would be upgrading to the EvoIII 16g turbo but not for a while.

Also boost if u don't mind, what evo knob do you recommend LOL thanks :)

So I had a panic attack on my way home tonight.

I had my car audio system installed today and I picked it up to drive home and I looked down at my dash and the oil pressure gauge was not reading it was below the L mark. SO I immediately pulled over let it sit for about 10 mins to cool down checked the oil 3 times, it was nice and full. I had done an oil change and new filter etc 2 days before.
So as I was sitting there a few people pulled over to see if I was ok and this one guy happened to be a mechanic and I told him what was going on. He said to start the car he was going to see if it had pressure. SO I did and he had taken off the oil cap and oil was jumping out of it he said that meant there was pressure. So I looked where the filter is to see if the sensor cables had come off or loose etc. they all seemed fine wiggled them around nothing changed. I drove it home no knocks nothing out of the ordinary nothing.
I am wondering if the cables are just bad and need replace, if there is a blown fuse or if its the actual dash. The people that had it before me put in the white kit that you can see in previous pages here, and the screws were all gone not one in place holding it there and the lights where the speed and rpm gauges flicker, if i tap it they come on so I wonder if the back of it where it has the circuit is needing replacing. I don't know whats going.
The people that installed my stereo system did a half ass job and didn't install my rear speakers or amp wires, and broke off the driver side speaker panel that goes on the door. I will be going back on Monday to talk to them.

Anyways any ideas as to what my problem may be with the oil gauge reader will be helpful. Thanks guys.

my Gs-T used to do a lot I found out my wire was loose and kept coming off of the sensor itself. the sensor will be right by the driver side tire under your bumper
 
yeah the sensor is the big round thing towards the back of the housing. I just removed the connector, stripped about 1" of wire and wrapped it pretty tightly around the connector on the sensor (dead center looks like a nipple) and then soldered it to itself. Damn connector can be frustrating sometimes.
 
Yah I will need to take a look at it. As long as oil is coming up to the top of the oil fill while its running that means there is pressure so I should be fine.
 
Yah I already changed out the white I'll post some new pics later so you can see my new deck and new black interior. Also earlier I mentioned I had no car alarm, well I found a no key entry with the word viper on it so I pressed be lock unlock and it locked my car doors! So I looked around and I found a viper box bolted under my dash. I don't think it's completely installed though. So I'll look more I to that.

Thats what i am currently running. Works excellent, but get the K&N FIPK kit with it, the cheap paper one that it comes with is terrible
