okay, this is all the info i have one this since its not my car yet, the guy told me this just happened and this is what he told me.

He was jump starting a friends car with his 93 talon TSI awd 5 speed (yeah probably not pertinent) and after he jumped the other car his turbo timer and SAFC dont work anymore. He said the knob on the SAFC is still lite up (safc2) but wont show anything on the screen and the turbo timer shows nothing and does nothing.

again thats all the info i got. Now when i get it ima have to buy a new SAFC (neo since the 2 isnt around) and a new turbo timer. I was just wondering why this would happen, i mean shouldnt they be protected agianst something like that.

Well why did the other car need a jump... either the battery is going out/dead or the alternator died/dieing.

Battery going dead, no big deal, may overuse the alternator but nothing else significantly damaging.

The ALT going out could spike the voltage and fry those other components, as well as explode the battery.

i dunno man im just going by the info he gave me. hopefully it didnt do any permanent damage to anything else.

I'd check the wiring for the SAFC and Turbo Timer just to make sure they are still connected properly. Something could have came loose hooking the clamps on the jumper cables to the battery terminals.

If anything did happen to the SAFC and Turbo Timer, you could save yourself some money and not buy another timer as they really aren't needed (this is just my opinion)...

it will be for me in the summer, 120 degree plus days, and its cheap insurance for the turbo.

ALT spikes cause lots of damage to lot voltage and low amperage computers and acces, ect.... its possibly they put the cables on backwards the first time and pulled them off in time before anything really bad could have happened. take your car up too a local auto parts store and they can run a couple test on battery and charging systems.
