well i been gone for a while waiting for the gasket kit to come in the mail. Anyways the last 2 days I was rebuilding the engine and finished tonight. i start up the car and the RPMS jumped real high then crashed back down and stalled. so i checked the ICS and made sure it was on stock setting. Start up the car and again the RMPs spiked then stalled. So i found a vacuum line off and fixed that along with a small water leak (also fixed) and I start it again and it keeps repeating this process. Before it stalled the last time i tried blipping the throttle to keep it from stalling and i had it idleing for a minute but on the brink of stalling, then randomly after about 20 seconds it spiked again then stalled. I don't know what kind of problem this is to search for but does anyone have an idea whats going on?

thanks for the help guy!

i would venture to say a vacuum leak. also i have had this problem in the past with biss o rings that leak, egr valves that are not working or leaking. nd worst come to worst a bad ecu.

if it was a vacuum leak shouldnt i have heard a hissing? and atleast you had the problem to so you know exactly where im coming from. how can i check to see if all the vacuum lines are ok?

o ok. what could be wrong with my maf? last time i had it running it was fine. could it have gotten messed up in the rebuild?

the maf can go bad jst sitting around. if it gets wet than it will be ruined. if the honey comb gets touched or messed up then it is ruined. also they will jst go bad for no reason. mine wnt bad cus i had it out of the car 4 like 6 months while i was rebuilding my motor. to look for vacuum leaks just listen. you will hear them. you can also do a boost leak test as that will presurize the motor and if the vacuum is wrong you will notice it on the gague. look at the vacuum line that connect to the throttle body as those are the ones that seem to come off and cause problems for me at least

ok thanks man. how can i check to see if my MAF is ok or if its ruined. and how much do they cost to replace for a decent 1?
