FMIC Long route piping?

Is it worth buying a cheap 1g longroute piping FMIC? The piping looks so long that it would cause lots of problems with spool and so forth. But for the price would it be worth going long route over short route. Who is running long route piping on a 1g. I would love for some input.

I have the long route and have no problems I did it my self to save money. It depends on myour money situtation and what you want to do.

Well thats the question. How bad did the piping affect your spool time. Did it make it better or worse. My brother has a 4" huge core short route and it helped his spool.

Yea im thinking of going with the xs power long route piping kit. Its cheap and people have said good things about it. My mechanic charges 1K for install and short route piping with a 4" core. He makes a beautiful kit but its damn expensive. And 1k really isnt bad for install and all.

Well now I just read about converting the 2g short route xspower kit to a 1g. Cant find much info. Is this possible

ya its possible... go threw the 45 some odd page thread about it... theres a couple of guys that have done it.. the only problem is you have to hack away at the radiator support to get the drivers side piping threw.. i am also very interested in the 1g kit, i would like to here some feedback on anyone that has it..

thats the ebay one you guys are talking about, correct? i have been thinking about it too just to run for a while until i can try and rig up some SR piping from the miles they give you. i remember hearing about someone that bought this kit, then cut the piping to make his own shirt route kit, but i cant find the thread.

i just ordered mine. it ended up being around 350 so still not to bad. when it gets here im going to take alot of pictures, i think i might do a tech article but not sure since there is a little one already, what do you think

Bringing this back to life. I got the kit on my car. Works fine on 16g variant apps. I have no more bumper support though it wouldn't fit (the long posts that go into the square holes) so it's gone. But other than that it performs quite well I just didn't use the UICP because I already had a Dejon UICP with MAFT blowthrough setup. On my big16g with FP2 cams I get full boost(16psi) by like 3500-3600 still very torquey and nice power from then till redline. If you have any questions feel free to ask

Ported 14B with long route FMIC piping seeing 15lbs by 2900 also running the MAFT in Blow thur with a custom true CAI. I remember reading something on here a while back about doing the calculations and pointing out that the short route piping wouldnt hardly make a noticable amount of effect on spool up time compared to long route. I'd imagine it can vary depending on the turbo your running though.

Mildly ported EvoIII 16g, GM Maf, 3" turbo back, 31"x7"x3" intercooler with 2.5 piping long route piping. I had the same mods with my 14b and even then I experienced no spoolup issues. then again, the 3" turboback alone shortens the spoolup time alot.

I'd say, go for it and save some cash on your IC setup, even if you go for the short route piping your not going to see differences in spool @ 16 psi from 3200rpm to 3000rpm unless you compare the 14b to the 50 trim...

Maybe if I had stock cams I'd be pulling 16psi by like 3200rpms haha. I'm sure the FP2's did something to my spoolup times cause I have 0 boost leaks on both the intake side and everything from the turbine housing on to the DP gasket is all good with new gaskets. Plus I'm on a fully ported Big16g. Oh well it still feels pretty decent spoolup time for me. But then again I have some minor cracks in my turbine inlet and wg flapper hole.

Short route piping and smooth bends are the best, but for the price of the FMIC upgrade, buy it.

i have the XS 1g FMIC and i like it alot. I got the whole thing for $300. The only thing is your going to have to hack some stuff up and take out the bumper support. Also your going to want to get a 2g throttle body elbow and some silicone 2.5-3.0 inch adapters.

Heres my 2 cents on the kit. there wasnt much custom work but there are a few things to know they are small things but good to know.
1- the upper intercooler pipe is a littel big so you will need to cut it down on the ends
2- you will ned to get a bov flange and have it welded on
3- you should get some beads welded on the ends of the pipes so you dont have to worry about them popping off.(all welding shouldnt be more than $50)
4- you will want to get a 2.5 to 1.5 silicone reducer to fit the upper intercooler pipe to the stock throttle body
5- you will have to remove the bumper support and the ducting inside the bumper.
6- you will have to open up the hole to the upper intercooler pipe. (not hard)
7- you may have to cut a little of the inner bumper one the far side where the long pipe comes into the intercooler
all in all i really like this kit and it isnt to hard to put in if theres any questions just let me know

im using the n/t 2.0 4g63 tb... Will the pipeing still reach, or will it have to be customized a little bit ( not about to buy my front mount yet but just asking for future reference )

Ive studied a lot and this is not true at all. Actually some short routes have harsher bends than long route sometimes making it worse than long route. It was proven in another thread that long route does not perform worse than short route.
