Is anyone running the 264/272 combo w/ the EVOIII? Or is everyone 272/272 die hard? I would like to know with the 264/272 for my next 'up-grade'. :thumb:

I tried 264/264, 264/272, and 272/264 last year at the track. They all yielded the same power with the turbo boosting as high as it could. They were all much better than stock cams.

I'd stay away from the 272 on the intake cam if you value your idle at all. It wasn't awful, just a bit more lopey than normal.

I am running the 272/272 on my car. Granted the EVO VIII 16g is a LOT bigger than the evo III, but I didn't have major idle issues. I had a little lump, but by adjusting my Fidanza adj cam gears, I basically took all of the lump away

We made 313whp @ 19psi on pump gas with a big16g and 264s. Supporting mods were a FMIC, 550s, hacked MAF, AFC, and full 3". This was on a FWD. Sorry I dont have the dyno sheet handy.

On a side note, I just made 289whp/304ft-lbs on my 14b with 272s, hacked MAF, AFC, stock SMIC, 550s, 2.5" w/cat and o2 dump on unleaded @ 22psi falling to 18 by 7k. :talon:

I made 290 on home-made crappy I/C piping, so it leaked at 24lbs of boost, but at 22 lbs of boost i made 290 HP and 301 ft lbs of torque, on pump gas and a stock exhaust, my exhaust is super restrictive so i need to get one and then ill be at the 300 mark.

Went back to the dyno with HKS 264/272 cams. Temperature and 34mm flapper own me.
My best peak numbers were 287 hp and 285 lb/ft of torque compared to my previous best of 283 and 289. However, today it was 98 degrees in the bay compared to 66 the last time.
Plus the flapper made the boost fall to about 16 by redline, although it was set to 20. I'll post a graph later, but there is really no point, it looks about the same except I picked up about 12hp near the top, even though boost was falling off.

:(

Although disapointed I now know what I must do. I am sticking with the EvoIII as I am convinced it is the best turbo for my needs, and that no other turbo can provide any better performance at 20psi and on 93 octane gas. So next up is to buy an unmolested EvoIII and pass this one down to my 1G, which will not see high boost for quite some time until I get its tranny rebuilt. I will also get a NX intercooler kit and then I am done with this car as far as power mods are concerned.

Damn, that's pretty impresive. What engine mods do you have? 2.4 maybe?

Wow, those are some incredible numbers. Can you post a full mod list, and specs on the turbo (ported, clipped, flapper mods, etc.?).

That's the highest dyno sheet I've ever seen for an EvoIII--you eeked out SBR by 10 hp ;). Congrats on the numbers; that has to be the fastest 4dr grocery-getter in Florida :p

Btw, were you satisfied with CFT's service and tuning abilities? I'm considering getting my car tuned there.

The exhaust manifold, turbo and 02 housing are all port matched.
No clipping and standard waste gate.
the guys at www.centralfloridaturbo.com are just awesome.
I did all the tuning but they were very helpfull and didnt shy away from offering a pointer here and there. I would highly recomend them.

Just looked at pics of your car--that's a gorgeous GVR4, btw. Talk about sleeper!

What was the A/F ratio on your best run?

Wow, that is a very nice mod list. Can't wait till I put my new FP ported evo 16g that's sitting under my bed. Have you taken it to the track? What kind of numbers are you running?

I will be going to the track this thursday.

Do you know how much air you were flowing and what your intake air temps were?

Airflow was in the mid 40lb/min area.
I do not know intake temps. I keep iat and baro readings clamped in the dsmlink.

with numbers like that, it can't possibly be a daily driver. You're maxing out full potential of the turbo. i can't see that turbo lasting long..

NICE NUMBERS THOUGH!!!! :thumb:
