So i just noticed that my EVO 3 is about 1 qt low in oil and idk what kind of oil the guys who had it before me used. i hear the best oil to use is Motul’s 300V fully synthetic 10W-40? but i cant get my hands on any before this sunday which is a huge car meet/cruse i paid for. and advanced auto and o'reilly auto parts doesnt carry this or my fuel filter so i cant even change the oil in time, unless i can use a 2g oil filter? but idk if thats even possible. my question is (even though i know this is a no no when mixing oil) will i be safe if i mixed in some Mobile 1 fully synthetic 10w-40?

It doesn't matter. They will both work. The only difference is the diameter of the filter.

I use 1G style filters on most everything, unless a downpipe, etc., causes clearance issues that prevents me from doing so.

Remember that people have used the Evo III oil filter housing on DSMs for years. The "original" Evo I--III oil filter is an MD325714---which crosses over to both 1G and 2G cars.

Mitsu has condensed their oil filter options to mainly just two part numbers these days: MZ690116 (larger diameter--what people think of as a "1G Style") and MZ690072 ("2G/Evo 8/9Style").

MZ690016 (click) and MZ690072 (click)

Use what you want/can find. There's nothing special about the Evo as far as oil filters are concerned, so don't over-think it.

OMG thank you! LOL this turned into a debate of which oil was better and lost focus on the main question which was about the filter! ill probably just order that off your site then and keep a few handy. THANK YOU AGAIN!

I have found "classic car" motor oil at my auto parts store. I use it in my 1967 Chevy. Several manufacturers (Lucas, Castrol, AmSoil etc) are adding ZZDP back to that formulation but I haven't seen if they add Moly like Motul does. I have to use that type on my small block chevy builds to keep the cam happy.
Thanks Josh!
