ever replace fuel hose back at the tank?

Actually if you would like to do it a way that would last awhile, check the Vender suchs a Street tuned, and Extreme PSI. They make a kit that goes from the sending unit, all the way to the filter, and they make a return line kit. That will be about your best bet.
 
I know what you mean, in fact I just talked to Emery at Street Tuned this morning about it. But that sending unit to fuel rail kit is $250 with the filter. My car has like NO rust, the metal lines are like new, and the filter is new. So I hate to mess with replacing the whole thing with rubber hose.

Actually I don't think there is anything wrong with the rubber hose that is there now, at the fuel pump, except that it is 20 friggin years old. I'm thinking about just leaving it there. So one thing I'd be interested in is, when people put in a Walbro and run it at 43.5psi + boost, and they leave that old stock rubber line in there, has anybody ever had one just fail - start leaking or break or spray gas all over?

Cut the fitting off the lien on the car, then cut the fitting off the line on the pump hanger. Get yourself some blue "push lock" style -6 rubber hose (same places that sell SS braided have it and i use it on my fuel system) then just cut a length, slip it over each end and i like to use 2 clamps on each end for added safety but i've never had them leak when doing them that way . much cheaper than ordering one and a lot easier to work with then the OEM piece
 
That sounds like it could work. When it comes to cutting off the fitting on the pipe that goes under the car, did you have to remove the fuel tank to get at it? Or is it not that hard to get at? Did you use any special hose clamps that actually stay "round" when you tighten them? Those worm gear type clamps aren't very round on small diameter stuff.
Can you use a tube cutter or will it just crush the tube?
 
It depends on how far you want to cut it back you can get to a decently small area through the access panel but it really depends i would see how far you want to cut it back through the the panel before i drop the tank maybe save yourself some hassle
 
i redid mine about 4 months ago i just pulled it from the car and cut the metal crimp band off of both ends with a hacksaw, then went down to Checkers and bought a 18" of Goodyear fuel injection hose and clamps. It's about 4 - 4.50 a foot and rated at 900 psi with a teflon liner inside so it wont rot from the inside out.

The crimp bands - do you mean on the fittings that are at each end of the hose? So that way you could reuse the old hose fittings, I suppose you just slide the new hose over the hose barbs on the old fittings and then clamp the hose down to the barb with a regular hose clamp? What kind of hose clamps did you use?
That Goodyear hose looks like the real deal.

I used a smnall tubing cutter, the type with the wheel-blade that you tighten then make a circle around, and repeat until its cut off.

You should not have to pull the tank, i've never pulled an eclipse tank to do anything related to the fuel system, things are fairly accessible
 
yea the the factory hoses are assembled much like SS bradded lines. only where you would slide the outer part over the line then thread the inner fitting into the line to squeeze them together. the factory lines the rubber line is slid in between the the inner tube and outer sleeve then the outer sleeve is then crimed down to keep everything together. but yes if you cut the outer sleeve off of the fitting you can pull the rubber line off and put slide the new stuff on. these are the clamps i use. Fuel Injection Hose Clamps          Fuel Line Retainer Clips and if you wanted you could probably use the same ends as SS line.
