So through all of this the main issue with fitting the motor was the pulleys in the DS. Even in the unmolested TSi frame there was only a sliver of room between them and the frame rail. In these pics you can see that I was very cognisant of this fact and preserved the clearance. Fcuk ya!

Time to pull the motor the very last time….how many time was that now? 4 or 5? Just enough tho….

Drop the subframe….

Clean up the welds on the PS rail…

Clean up the DS mount…

Pulled the dirty old blanket off the firewall and the last few components for paint…

WOOOOO!!!! Time to mask it all up !!!!

Final paint time bitches….there a little hazy as I literally just laid down a coat….good old garage special.

Cured and ready to go….came out so fcuking good. A few blemishes where I scraped the air line on the rad support but I’m happy regardless

Now for some more TSi teardown….next up the interior.

TSi interior wiring harness ready for install. Side by side the ESi and TSi harness are different. There are some extra little sensors and thing that are not mirrored across the platforms.

TSi shifter cables on top and the ESi on the bottom. They are noticeably different lengths.

TSi clutch on top ESi on the bottom....some more difference s here as well....not sure if I needed to strip these but I did anyways since I had the parts.

TSi brake booster on the left and the ESi on the right. From what I can tell the ESi has a single diaphragm and the TSi is a double diaphragm type.

Alright time to start installing some components finally! First up the interior and a few engine bay parts…..

CARPET!!!!

SEATS!!! SHIFTER!!!!! EBRAKE!!!!

Rear wiring harness…

In hindsight this little area will become a problem real soon….

Brake booster and clutch installed…

Dash wiring and heater core….

New infinity speakers installed and man do they ever sound amazing!

So I figured I could install the ESi clock spring assembly to the TSi wiring harness…..no dice. All the connections are different so I figured I could just swap the signal light mechanism….no dice there either. It all had to come out …

All the vents reinstalled…

Gauge cluster reinstalled…

Clock spring differerences….TSi on the right ESi on the left…

And that’s it for interior until the AWD swap is done.

Next up the front end install…..

The shocks look funny just hanging there with no engine or subframe. Poor lonely little shocks, lets find you some friends….

BLAM!!!! Subframe installed…

Lets put these wheels on for no reason what so ever…..man the long days and late nights are starting to add up….

Installing some misc. components….

Time to install weird ### canister that I do not know what it does…

TSi throttle cable on top, ESi on the bottom….

Completely installed and wired except for the radiator….

Time to attack the rear end…first up the ESi tear down….

Drop the gas tank….

Old sub frame removal….

So naked….

Ba-bye old exhaust….

Next up the TSi rear end strip down….driveshaft first….

Oh my! To my surprise it has the LSD…..fcuk ya!! Very happy and shocked to find this. : )

Drop the rear sub frame….

Gas tank and fuel lines pulled out and to the side….

Check out that rust in the rear quarters….so fcuking bad man. Literally falling out in chunks.

Time to swap over the AWD parts….first up the subframe bolts….

Lets through the new bolts in….

Time to cut!!!

Peel that shiit back!!

New bolt installed.

Time to weld it up….

The TSi driveshaft support pieces….

Pressed in and ready to tack….

Little bit of burn through….

Test fitting the rear sub frame….

Once again just popped right in….so nice and tight….

Axle mock up for the rear driveshaft support….

All fitted and tacked in….

Now the ESi has a single back seat and the TSi has a dual back seat so there is another bracket to be installed….

Now for those new gas tank mounts….drop the rear subframe and mock it up…..

Now the fuel and brake line install….

Now for my little opsie….when I was welding the rear subframe bolts in I forgot that I installed the wires already…..ops. Have to stip them and tape em up...BOOO!!!!

Next I threw on the front panels, hood, lights, and hood….. really starting to come together now….

DOORS!!!!!!!

Pulled her out and took it for a spin under her own power!!!! Started right up with no issues at all. Its as if it had never been swaped at all When I was out though I got hassled by the cops for no plates and had it impounded!!! Lesson learned. Fcuk me..... po po, what ya got be hatin all the time? Cost me close to $700 smackers. Impound fees, towing and three friggin tickets.

HOME!!!! After getting it home decided to just finish it off and then get it on the road full insured and plated.

All that work deserves a little thumping in the trunk. Stereo install….think all tighter its 8 speakers, 2 amps and a cap putting out 1400 watts. Sounds so good and clear and LOUD!!! KABOOM!!!!

Also threw on some new shoes for this bad boy. I plan on doing a complete paint job, but I believe in the function over form rule and therefore there must be some GO before there can be some SHOW.
