eprom ECU looks like it's leaking??

I ordered a ECU from some one, in the classifieds, and it looks like the caps are leaking. could anybody help me with some pictures of what it might look like. can any body describe what it is I should look 4. to me it looks like one of the caps has brownish black crusty syrup leaking out and across the rest of the board

Yes its leaking at the caps, simple as that, shouldt have the stuff leaking out of the they have caps for those, have them replaced.

Desolder the caps, clean the board with solvent, check all traces in the area, and install new caps.

Really it's not thought, You maybe removing alot more then just caps(like in the link above) to get to all the acid off the board even if it's not showing signs of corrosion it can continue to corrode the components if all of it's not neutralized.

He's a few more pics to give you an Idea of what your looking at 1st pic is a 2g board but has some good and bad parts pointed out on it.2nd is what you want yours to look like.

i bought mine off of ebay. all three capacitors came together in a kit.

no, radio shack i dont think so the ebay ones are fine, their just caps.

I'm not sure if you'll find them their but they are,
47µF @ 50V, 22µF @ 50V , 100µF @ 25V you can up either the voltage rating or the capacitance of the capacitor if you want. For example, instead of 50V capacitors, you could use 63V capacitors. You just have to make sure that the capacitor is radial (IE leads coming out of the bottom, Not axial) and that it will fit.

Also make sure you use electical contact cleaner before hand on the board before replacing them and be careful so you don't spread the electrolyte in the process of cleaning it off...

Alot of people don't relize the caps just start the problem and fixing them without cleaning the board properly along with fixing other damage that maybe hard to see is just asking for trouble down the road... Just look for ANY other damage and fix it as well...

Again your caps are bad, have someone esle buy them for you, with a bank account.

Yup, those are pretty bad dude. You will want to clean that PCB up and make sure they didnt damage/corrode anything.

Its so funny I have a had a no spark issue been installing all of the new parts came to the last solution ecu, and sure and crap the caps were leaking and burned some of the components did not look good at all. so now i am waiting on my new ecu to come the waiting game sucks. Just got done finding that out and then i found this post with pics of bad caps and that was my insurnace mine is junk but even worst.
