Just looked at the serial numbers of my 1992 eagle talon tsis ecu. The numbers on it are MD166262 E2T36578.....underneath it 2323 and in the right corner E. Do I need to take it apart too? or can you tell by this?

Looks E-prom to me. Is this the an oem chip or is this one somebody made? Sorry the guy before me never gave me a whole lot of info on the car. For some reason the picture is incredibly small

Yep that's a factory EPROM. Also it appears you have the original caps in there still as well. If you can part with it for a week I'd send it to ecmlink.com for a cleaning and recap give you another 7 years of no worries.

Definitely not an OEM chip. The OEM chip for that ecu would say E931 on it. Only way to know what's changed is find the person that did the work or get an eprom reader. On the bright side, though, the ecu is already socketed.

Ya idk the chip doesnt look OEM. I read the numbers off the chip and this is what it says... ST(logo of some kind) 1st line(m27c5 12)2nd(9086 L)3rd(AA014 VS) 4th(TWN 89 828). Just doesnt look like a Mitsubishi chip? Correct me if I am wrong. I got the car from a guy who screwed me on the deal who got the car as a trade Im learning new things about the car daily so I cant really find the guy that did it. I have rebuilt pretty much the entire drivetrain now I am trying to figure out what options I have with the computer.

Well I am an idiot for whatever reason I thought you could run a chip in the car without it being socketed. :ohdamn:
