So I developed a slight idle surge recently, which coincided with a bad alternator (was spiking up to 16+ volts before it died completely), new alternator and battery installed, still getting intermittant and slight idle surge so chalk it up to coincidence...

Went through the usual steps to isolate the issue to no avail. Pulled my ISC and tested the coils, perfect 40ohms across the board. Pulled the TB and cleaned the hell out of it. Wasn't too dirty, just figured since I was there I'd make it worth pulling. Put it all back together, now I have major idle surge and nothing would make it go away. After much cursing and hair pulling I cross my fingers and pull the ECU to find out the drivers for the ISC are blown. Seems strange since the ISC coils test fine. Regardless, I ordered a new ISC, but figure there's no point putting it in till I have the ECU repaired. So here's my questions...

Can anyone give me an idea how much this is gonna cost to have the drivers replaced? I've searched the threads but no one gives actual amounts. I realize it will vary depending on the extent of the damage to the board (the back of mine looks a little discolored, but the tracks under the drivers are probly unhappy), but I'm just looking for a ballpark.

Who would you suggest I look to for the repair? My first thought since I have DSM Link v2, of course is the guys at ECMTuning, but always like to have options when I can.

Thanks for taking the time and all responses are greatly appreciated!!

Why not buy a good used ISC for cheap? Maybe pick up another ecu to swap in so you can see if that's your problem too. Always good to have a spare ecu in case one goes bad -or- to have so you can swap in when trouble shooting so as to eliminate that possibility. I can tell you from experience a semi-bad ecu can cause mysterious issues you'd never suspect.

I figure $67+shipping for a new ISC is pretty cheap so had to do it. Been looking for a spare ecu for cheap so I can drive my car while I have mine repaired. I have no doubt the drivers in my ecu are blown, unfortunately...

I would email Tom at ECMTuning. He can probably give you an estimate. The bigger issue is getting the drivers. According to this the drivers are not easy to get a hold of. With the amount of work those guys do on ECUs, they are probably your best bet both with working and the ECU and sourcing the parts you need.
