Recently I rebuilt my engine, I have gotten a first start but my engine dies after a minute or so.

I am using ECMLink for tuning and tuning off of a laptop. I have watched a few videos and read a good amount of articles in relation to getting a smooth tune, general tuning and more specific quirks / features of ECMLink. I believe I have all values needed to tune set and would like to get the tune dialed in for the streets.

I have been through multiple checklists including list of values to log, help from the experts and Six Sigma tuning's checklist.

I understand some of the very basics such as trying to get a AFR of 14.7 and am currently reading more threads and studying the ECMLink wiki to try and get a better grasp on the things I don't understand at all. I set up my 950cc injectors according to the wiki as opposed to the calculator although reading some threads about this it does not seem to matter (much) which you do. Is one more accurate / recommended over the other?

I was looking to get some help with my tune in order to get it back on the road. My horsepower goal is around 300 - 350 if possible and in general, fun. If my mods will not support that type of horsepower I am happy to lower my expectations, I do not want to blow up my engine and want to be able to take it on road trips in the future.

I have linked a photo below of how I have my viewing of logs set up, if you have any suggestions of things that should be removed or more prevalent on my view please let me know. I have also linked a log of the car starting and reving a small amount at idle, I don't want to go out on my first drive running how it is, it is idling rough and then once I let off the throttle it dies / sputters like it wants to die.

I noticed that the AFR is far to high at around 22.4 most of the time and when i tried to use the "MAF comp adjust" feature it tells me I must have the raw MAF data logged, for some reason I do not have a raw MAF data value available for logging but I do have a "MDPRaw" value, from looking around to my understanding a MAF and MDP are the same thing but the MDP is the factory version, is this correct and if so is their a way to use the calculation feature with the MDP raw data instead of the MAF raw data?

I believe I have the ability / know how to dial in the MAF comp graph manually once I have a general idea of what it is supposed to look like. I plan to use an older video by TPG as a sort of guide in order to dial this in once I have a baseline, running car. I would like to think that the "Hacked 2g" template will be a good jumping off point in getting this started, does this look and sound logical after reviewing the log?

I realize that it is running far to lean and would like to fix that, I believe doing what I stated above will do so in a safe manor but am wondering if their is anything else I should be changing in my tune, reworking or generally trying to fix before upping the boost / trying to make more power?

Set your Voltage Based Deadtimes up in your DA Tab to match your injector datasheet and set your deadtime in your fuel tab somewhere around 0, then tweak your deadtime in your fuel tab to dial it in to 14.7.

You might have to play with your global some as well. (Less Negative Value = More Fuel)

As far as setting your screen up for things to monitor, in my opinion, everything that is of value I keep on my screen. Keep in mind I'm also using a laptop with a 17.3" Screen but Ill attach a screenshot of what all I monitor on my datalogs.. Its easier for me this way because I have set it up to where the items that are relevant with each other are above or below each other.

You're either quite lean, or your WB needs to be looked at. It is for the most part stoned at 18.1, I don't know if that's because it's bad or because that's the leanest value it will show. It does show some movement though, so the fuel adjustment as suggested above is something to try out.
 
I am still confused about were the injector deadtime is in the DA tab, I set up my voltage based deadtimes as per the sheet for the ones that had numbers and made the graph smooth for the ones in-between.

For this log I set my deadtime to 330 as per the ECM wiki recommendations, I am wondering if this is a normally high number for my global deadtime and it should just be adjusted from here or is it supposed to be close to zero.

I watched TPG's video regarding fuel tuning and his number was high as well, then he adjusted it to get it more dialed in. I believe what I am doing is correct as the mixture is much closer to an ideal number on my AFR readings than before and it seems to make the idle much smoother, now I just need to add a bit more fuel by lowering the global deadtime and adjusting the MAF comp, correct ?

I also noticed that some people use the Evo fuel charts as opposed to the stock DSM ones, is their any disadvantage or advantage to either one?

The DA map for injector deadtime be battery voltage is called InjBatteryAdj. Since direct access didn't exist before DSMLink V3 the prior adjustment was the global on the fuel tab which adds a constant value to all the entries of the map.

You current InjBatteryAdj map is stock and you have no additional deadtime set in the global and no injector fuel global in this log. I'm pretty sure that's not intended.

You have a map sensor set in pin assignments but have stock for mas selected, is the car on speed density or stock mass air flow. Your short term fuel trims do not look to bad within 5% mostly.

The ISC position is essentially maxed out closed so the BISS needs adjustment, Says 1% throttle and .67v TPS at idle. Need to get that to .63v and idle and 5v wide open and 0-100%.

I don't know if you have cams but your air flow per rev is around .30. Stock cams .25ish is good place to be, .28-.35 is usually with large cams and fairly high idle rpm. What wideband is in the car as I suspect its reading is off in link due to voltage and lambda being wrong? It's extremely rare a preset for AEM lines up and being the fuel trims say its close and the wideband says lean also leads me to think that.

Some things are not showing up so I suspect your ECMLink firmware in the car is old as I don't see individual dead times or fuel cut options.

I have a AEM X wideband in the car while the previous owner had a older AFR gauge installed but it was never wired in to the ECU, it was only set monitoring. I'm not 100% sure on how to adjust the gauge or "tune" it but I will do some more looking into that tonight and if I need a new sensor I will be sure to get that.

As for the ECMLink age, I do believe it is up to date but will reinstall the latest, most up to date version once I have access to the ECU again.

Sorry about being away for so long and killing the thread, thank you all so much for your help. I will have access to the car again this weekend (9/14 - 9/15) so I hope to be able to get it running well enough to drive it to my current home around 7 hours away.

Everyone’s pin assignments are going to be different, depending on what sensors you have wired in to what pins.

Are you on a stock Mass airflow or is the car on Speed Density?

Ok so for a aem x line wideband in the car it needs to be configured as a linear wideband. That wideband many myself included use and like. That has the separate sensor ground. When wired correctly it will log dead on with the chart being used for values. I like to use the sensor ground at the ECU ground personally. Then you select linear wideband instead of any aem pre set. Then you manually enter the voltage and lambda values. Set min voltage at .50V and min lambda to .58, then set max volts to 4.50V and 1.23 max lambda. When wired right it will log exactly on with what the gauge is displaying.
