-i posted this same thread on ecmlink forums but i'm pretty sure dsmtuners has quite a few more active members that may be able to help-
hello, been reading and searching as much as i can. i just bought v3 1g ecmlink and i'm having a real hard time connecting. i think i've finally got the driver installed correctly on the lap top. when under device manager i see the com port thing pop up when plugging the cable in and see it disappear upon disconnecting. Few things id like to ask first is, i failed to install the driver correctly on my lap top the first time around so i thought for ****s and giggles i'd plug the cable into the desktop computer. it apparently found the drivers itself and installed them, however there were two drivers it found? idk if that's normal. the lap top only installed one. so first question should there be two different drivers or only one? i made the computer install everything in the drivers folder.
second question, When exactly should the led on the cable come on, blink or flicker, upon plugging it into the laptop or the car (with key on) or only when connecting to the ecu. i'm not getting any kind of light up during any of these.
i used to data log my car all the time (via pocket logger) so i'm assuming the obd port is in good condition however the car did sit for quite some time and is not running right now, wont be for another week or so.
i'm going to test the port to make sure. but i should have continuity; pin 12 with ground, pin 1 & 2 on the ecu with pin 1 and 10 on the port. i've seen its possible to have a bad cable but very rare and i honestly don't think its the cable but could be i guess.
Just asking for any input i know there's a million threads on " ant connect " or whatever i just didn't see exactly what i was looking for.
Btw i'm in vero beach florida if anybody is close by that could maybe help out PLEASE message me!
thank you in advance - Brian
EDIT: yes there is continuity in all the pins to there corresponding locations
