Ive picked up what i believe and was told is a Early 91 3/4 hub, slider, gears, shift fork (2 hole), input and intermediate shafts.
Ive got a 93' w5m33 trans already in working condition but wanting to "upgrade" the 3/4 to postpone me buying a dogbox for a little while.
From what i understand my current center diff is compatible being a 91+

My question is, these are able to be put together for a stronger 3/4 setup in my the 91+ trans?
If so is it just a matter of replacing the current 3/4 hub slider, shift rail, and fork or do i also need to swap intermediate shaft and or input shaft?

I did try to search but this seems to be kind of too specific of a question, i couldnt find any good results.

When I have seen a thread about a 3rd gear issue, the picture that accompanies it is usually one with no teeth left on the gear itself. They don't like all of the torque that gets thrown at them.

Yeah, my limited understanding is that the EARLY 91 gears are slightly thicker and hold up a little better. So that's my reasoning for the swap if possible.

I'm about to switch to E85 and I know it's a quickly ticking bomb with the late 3/4.
I KNOW the earlier versions aren't an end all, but just looking to spare some more time

Need a close up of the gears to confirm the profile, but based on your typings, you can't. Mid 91 is the border you can't cross with 3/4 parts. 3,4,intermediate shaft, and center diff has to stay in a set across that border. Late 91 to early 93 3/4 will be compatible with your intermediate shaft and center diff. Either case as you have a later trans you will need a 91-92 3/4 rail to go with your parts as well.

Trans life wise, just don't be dumb. A 2100 and a puck disc is enough to go 9's. I've done it (it was an XTD POS plate that is basically a 2100) Keep the torque low, keep the clutch soft and don't do endless 3rd gear pulls, don't power shift into 4th. If you can't keep a stock trans sort of together, you will not be happy with a dogbox either.

what would you need a close up of to confirm the gears?

Car has a 2900 with a sprung 6 puck in it already from a few years go, which i understand is not great.

Do these help?

You have to mesh your third gear to the intermediate shaft. There are three different intermediate shaft part numbers but only two different gear involutes for third. It will be obvious if they mesh or not. Same holds true for center diffs. Center diff must mesh with intermediate 3rd gear.

So, there a actually an easier way.
Tim commented on another post about a similar request and explained how to tell the differences between different year gearsets.

This post says this gearset is a 90-91.5.
Good gearset, just not viable for me. I don't feel like swapping all the shifter stuff out.

It looks to be a good set of gears, to bad it isn't able to fit your transmission :(

I'll be honest they are decent.
The input and intermediate shafts are good, as well as all the synchros also but the 1/2nd slider is pretty trashed from reverse maybe? I'm still not super keen on transmissions and what's what.
It looks like most the teeth on all the gears themselves where the sliders connect to them are slightly worn also.

I'll probably try to clean them up and sell em since I don't really have a use for em.
