91/92 trans in 90

I have a 90 dsm. I got a new engine and trans and the rpm gague doesnt work. I think that the trans pins are different. I need to know how i can get the gague in the dash to work. thanks

Was the new motor form a 90 or what? There is a plug that only works for the 90 for the tach only, its weird. Also ECu for 90- then 91-94 is diff. I dont think the trans is problem. I had a 90 in a 92, and now a 91 in a 92 tach always worked. Thee is a little pin thing, that is only on a 90 for the tach it sucks. Hope this helps.

did you swap wiring harness's? 90 clusters arent interchangable with 91-94 wiring and viceversa I put a 91 engine/complete front to back wiring into a 90 and had the same problem I swapped the cluster out for a 91 and things magically started working. theres something different in the coil pack/tr unit wiring that send signals to the tach in the years

thats what I am talking about. The little thing for 90's only that controls the tach and shit, on the back side of block. The 90 ecu is diff, wiring harnes, sensors, t-body, basically everything. And yep the 91-94 cluster eont wor kin 90 or vice versa its gayed up.
