What if you offered only the board with DIY instructions how to do the conversion?
That will not be an option. Honestly, we're nervous just sending sockets out to DIY customers... Of course, many know what they're doing, but many do not... See our ECU repair page for a few examples.

Installing the non-EPROM conversion board is much more technically challenging than installing a simple socket. And given what we've seen with socket attempts, there's just no way we're going to send the boards out separate. Now, if someone like Steve P. wanted to start offering non-EPROM conversion, I'd have no problem sending him batches. We've seen his work. :thumb:

So it's not that we're trying to hoard them ourselves and we're definitely not making crazy money on the conversions. We're offering the conversion option mainly just to keep the ECU supply going strong. But to just generally ship these things out to customers to install themselves would be irresponsible.

Smart because, I could see a lot of people messing up their ecu and then needing to send it in to Tom for repair.
Honestly, that wouldn't be smart either. We make very little money on repair services. It's another item we really only offer to keep the ECU supply strong. If these ECUs were plentiful elsewhere, we'd probably drop the repair side of our business entirely.

LOL, I've thought about it but I'm not sure I can afford to do it. I don't think your making any money on them which makes it hard for me to.

I see your website says $135 for the conversion. What about the $75 with purchase of v3?
The website says "And if you're going to buy an ECMLink package at the same time, please contact us first and we'll even arrange a discounted price on the conversion!".

So whats the update? anyone using it yet? if so give us your input on it

A lot of people are using it, the first day it was out they had 8x orders I believe. You can download the software from ECMTuning, Inc. to see the program.

I poke around with my V3 everyday. Only problem is I can't do much with it being 20 to 30* here. =(

I'll can't wait for April to come around so I can actually use v3 for what its intended for.

It's an absolutly amazing product. Tom's customer service and turn around time was second to none. The added bonus of having to forum is amazing. Any questions you have get answered with in hours.

My car loves the cold air... You can do a pretty nice tune right now...

Hey guys. I have a quick questions. I have light power mods on my car like intake, intercooler pipes, radiator, bov (vented to atmo), exhaust and that's about it but I am getting a real nasty MPG. Will DSMlink be worth my money now to help try to fix my problem or should I wait to get it till I have more power mods? I have spent a ton of money on the suspension for autocross racing and haven't gotten around to big power mods yet. Thanks

You can fix your problem by not venting your BOV to the atmosphere......

Already tried that and I only saw a minimal increase in MPG.

ECMLink will enable you to get the most out of your setup and any future changes you make to the setup. You can tune for more mpg with it also. But there is probably a problem that is causing bad mpg.

Yeah, what he said. Whether you can tune for it or not I can't say, but you should at least be able to log and analyze well enough to figure it out the cause.

Ok thanks thats what I was wanting to know. Is it worth it to get it now or wait. Now can I save different maps on the DSMlink and switch them while I am driving? Like have a set up for driving to school then have another one set for the track?

You can save as many as you want to the hard drive and load them up, but it's not going to be switchable in real time or anything.

What all should I get when I buy V3? Should I get just the Dsmlink? or get Dsmlink with injectors or anything else? I will most likely be running a FP T28 turbo in a year or so. Thanks

A wideband and a 5BAR MAP sensor. Buy the biggest injectors you want.
