just installed dsmlink everything done right but car wont start. turns over like it wants to start but wont. any suggestions?

its now making an uneven clicking sound under the dash. yes it gets spark and fuel it started for about 2 seconds then cut out the holes in the socket look rather larger could it be that all the pins arent touching?

everything is plugged back in just fine. yes its getting fuel and spark. it makes an uneven clicking noise around the starter and starts for about 2 seconds but dies.

shouldnt be was just working about 3 hours ago plus it sputter sparts sometimes mainly want to figure out what that clicking noise is

I think the clicking noise is the ECU trying to power up. Try checking the connections to the ECU. Not the connections into the ECU but the wires that go into the plug. It is possible one of those might have gotten disconnected.

nope battery isnt dead and the clicking stops or slows down when i apply slight pressure to different areas of the dsmlink chip

i know this is probably a retarded question but does the copper looking case that the ecu is in have to be grounded? before i would just plug it in and try to start it. also when i remove the chip and turn the power on the clicking noise is constant. chip not sitting in there properly?

well same diagnosis. when the chip has pressure applied the clicking stops and the car will turn over but for a brief second...then it dies....could something have been fried when the eprom was being socketed?

I would think they would test it out after the socket it. Where did you get it socketed? As for the ECU being grounded, it should be when the cables are connected into it so I dont think that would be an issue. Did you have the power wires disconnected when you installed the ecu?

sounds very similar to the problem i had with mine.If i pushed the chip just the right way it would start.Turned out whomever owned the ecu before me did a crap solder job on the socket.I could tell this by removing the pcb from the shell and looking on the underside of the board. It was that bad.

yup thats my problem. i had somebody i know that had "sodering experience" do the work....bad idea :notgood: its ok though..because now his stupidity cost him a knew eprom :sneaky:
