Do you need the factory amp for speakers to work?

I've been installing a radio because the original was removed (No idea) anyway I bought all the adapters and plugged it in but no sound from any speakers. The amp was removed and I was reading that without it the fronts wont work. Getting a stock replacement amp isn't that hard just wanting to know.

If your car came stock with the Infinity sound system (the one with the "tweeters" on the dashboard), then yes you need the factory amp, or you at least have to run the speaker wires from the head unit to the wire harness under neath the passenger seat.

I ran new larger gauge wire all the way around personally. I "think" there is a way to bypass the amp but it's been so long since I was searching about it. There's a lot of stuff to dig through.

If you have the Infiniti sound system then your doors and rears will work without the amp but your tweaters will not. What I did was took the stock plug from the amp and bridged the gap for the tweeters by soldering wires in the adapter and plugged it in under the seat.

I'll just buy the stock amp. I want this baby to look pretty much stockish.
