Well if you don't know for a fact, please don't post it. Some might take it as fact and that's how hearsay and misinformation spreads. Just trying to keep the info that's posted here accurate.

This isn't a joke, but this is actually how I checked to see if I had an E in the corner of my ECU sticker: I didn't want to take the whole ECU out, and the sticker is on the firewall side of the ECU case. I just took off the passenger side kick-panel, stuck one of my wife's makeup compacts :D between the ECU and the floor and shined a mini-MagLight on it. The mirror reflected the sticker, and lo and behold, "E". If you don't want to go through the embarrassment of carrying a compact out to your car in front of your apartment complex, a dental mirror should work too. :thumb:

Or go to any parts store and buy one specifically for automotive use.

No 96-99' have an Eprom ECU!!!!! 95 was the only year for 2g's that the Eprom was available. And like others have stated, most were eprom, but a few were not.

I thought '95 was the ONLY year of DSM's that had EPROM available. I may be wrong but the way I'm reading it seems as if you're saying 1g's had EPROM as well.

The 97 rumor has some truth behind it. The 97 ECU's may be writable but they do not have a traditional EPROM. Flashing is something Tom and Dave have been thinking and possibly working on in the past. :thumb:

Yes, all the 420A ECUs have internal EPROM. That's how AF/X can upgrade the ECU (97 only though...) and why Satan can reflash it's contents.

do N/ts have eproms also
2G N/T cars are a different animal. The Chrysler ECU that goes with the 420A is flashable, not that it helps anyone.

There are 1G N/T EPROM ECUs. They are a slightly different version of the turbo EPROM ECU and with the right parts can be converted.

ok this may be a dumb question but i have been searching alot of sites and came across this one site that stated ALL 95 DSM's have eprom ecus is this tru??

Anytime during June or before is considered an "early" year. They usually roll over to the next year model after June.

Not All 95's had Eprom ECU's, but a significant amount did. In fact, it's hard to crack open an ECU from a 95 and not find an EPROM. Those who do are the unluckiest of the unlucky.
