no one replaces the crank on the 420a they dont even make aftermarket cranks as far as i know.
pistons/rods are a given.
head gasket job is needed for an engine rebuild anyway MLS gasket is my recommendation.
if you upgrade the cams, you also need upgraded springs or else valve float will become an issue in higher rpms. and upgraded retainers are just for piece of mind.

the answer to your question is kinda hard.
my opinion: people upgrade them because either they dont know better, or they are going for a full out built engine. and for cams, they might want the "cammed" sound.

u got that block still :D sorry i wouldnt mind it.... just sayin hahaha ;) :sneaky:

Actually.......yes I do. Its sitting on a dolly waiting for me to come up with a reason to use it.

Unfortunately, I'm a real lazy SOB and I'd never take the time to box it up for shipping (honestly). So unless someone is local (or wants to drive here), I'll never sell it.

.

Not true, I sell a 2.2 stroker crank. I am 75% sure they make a forged replacement as well. Although unless you are stroking it, no reason to go to an aftermarket crank.

CI 2.2L Stroker Kit 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse/Talon 420a

Boom, Im 100% you are right sir. Not to effect your sales Fo but for the average person turboing their 420a forged crankshaft is probably not needed but if you are "blowin welds on the intake" and going so fast your bolted on diamond plated floor mat flies off feel free to buy forged everything for your car.

i did know about the stroker crank but that train of thought didn't occur to me.

and to be honest a bigger cam in these cars doesnt make a real big difference even under boost.
it does help but youre not going to gain large amounts until youre into high boost like 20 psi plus on a decent sized turbo.

this is all on 2gnt.com of you read their wiki.

One, #### CI, 2, I agree, you don't NEED a forged crank for strength purposes. PS don't buy form CI, but from me. Lastly, best reason to get a forged crank, and one of the main reason I am, is because forged cranks are the only ones that be be aero-shed. Aka, more reduction of windage.
