We got finished rebuilding my 420a engine( or thought we did) and found that we where missing a piece. Its like half a circle and fits into the head on the back divers side. does any one know what its even called, or where i can get one?

That does sound right, but would anyone know where to by this. im looking but can find it at all. and thank you for your help

Sounds like the half moon that seals up the head where they cut the came bores. I've seen them with rubber and metal pieces. You will probably have to go to the dealership because most valve cover gasket kits don't come with it. It could even be stuck to the old gasket. I would look under the car, everywhere in the engine bay where it could of fallen. Did you have the head at a machine shop or something like that?

no i had bought a new head and it didnt come with one. i just found a rubber one that might work. so i wait for that to arrive and hope it works if not ill look for a junk yard car and get one from it. ( dont have the old heads any more) Thank you guys. i love this car and would love to have her on all 4 again

Well its a easy piece to find, i have a mitsu hook up i can get almost anything, that still being made within days, let me know if you need help.

Ive seen vendors carry them here for the 6 bolt, try extreme psi.
Curious thing about the half moon on our cars; it is metal for the 420a. I Honestly don't know if the 4G63 rubber half moon will fit properly in our heads

BUT here's a little trick for the 4G63 guys; some people have had a problem with their half moon constantly leaking. A buddy of mine had a leaker and we decided to try the 420a metal one on it. Put a little dab of goober on it, and had to kinda knock it in there (the reason I'm not positive that the 4g63 rubber one would work). But once we got it down there, it did sit flush and worked like a charm. We have since done this with three other 4G63's (one was my 2.3 stroker) with great results.

As far as where to source them out? Well, I've got a few from all the engines I've broken down, so my own source was simple. I haven't seen one in any of the gasket kits I've gotten over the years (probably because it isn't really a gasket, LOL). So I'm inclined to say the dealer would be the road you would have to travel.

If that aluminum plug will fit in a 4g63 than the rubber plug from the 4g63 should fit. You can get them at any parts store. The felpro part number is, CP75013, it cost's 2.99.

All i was saying is i knew 4g63 had them, yes im aware of the different heads, well my friend looks like you should be able to find what you need.

Yeah, intuitively one would make that "leap", but its because it took a bit of tapping to get her in there (certainly more than the 420a heads), that I want to throw the disclaimer out there. Because I haven't actually done it (or know of anybody that has), I don't want to mislead. I'd hate for them to get it and find that the rubber is just slightly smaller or something of that vein.

I've also got a few laying around the garage from all the projects i've done. I've gotten felpro head gasket sets, as well as ebay head or valve cover gasket sets, and they have all come with the 'half moon' rubber seal. (not just for the 4g63)

Have you tried just going to your local vatozone?

I hope the one you ordered works well, but if not i'm sure a WTB ad would turn up some really good results here.
