Okay, so I have been on this site for a while but don't post much because I haven't had too many problems that I couldn't figure out until now. I am in need of help, pictures of everything and full detail...
I have a 1996 Eclipse RS 420a motor.
I brought it to one of my supposed friends to have him fix my head for me because i bent the intake valves and when I got it back...well when I had to pick it up, he had destroyed the body on the car and brand new paint :banghead:and took the head off the car and put it in the back seat so now I have no clue what wires go where and how to fix it.
So I bought a new complete head, head set and new head bolts.
What I need help with is what wires go where, pictures of them, how to put the head back on how to put the cam gears on the installed cams of my new head and how to time the car as well as any tips/tricks anyone has. I have experience in tinkering with cars so as long as I am told how and shown pictures how to fix it, I think I should be pretty good. Please help me! Thank you.

This will at least get you started but its going to be hard to explain everything. Is the block still in the car? If so then you will want to get the head back on first. Whats taken apart on the head? If it's stripped of all lifters and valves I would suggest at your level or experience to take it to a shop that works on long blocks/heads. Let them put it together and make sure the mating surface isn't warped. Then follow the instructions in the previous link. It should also provide timing instructions. You will have to take off the passenger mounting bracket to take off/put on the crankshaft pulley. Basically you put a jack under the oilpan, take off the mount and then drop the jack. As far as the wires that plug into the sensors i don't have a pic but basically it starts and the bottom and wraps around the motor. Just follow the wire harness and plug in from bottom to top. I don't think that you can plug in any of the sensors in the wrong place. Good luck.

Definitely need to lose the supposed friend. The site above is a good resource, should work for you, good luck.

yeah, the guys a dirtbag...lesson learned I suppose. But I have a new head that is complete to put on, its sitting in my bedroom. and the block is still in the car. Basically just the head, intake manifold and headers are off the car, along with the tb, intake etc...

Yeah what I would suggest if that link doesn't work for ya and you don't have a specific starting point for us to help you is to get a chiltons manual and try using that and if you get stuck then you can ask a specific question that might get more responses ie which wires go to what intake sensors. Also pictures would help a lot. Sorry to hear someone screwed your car, thats why a lot of people like doing their own work though.

I would recommend finding anothercar like yours, in the JY or just some random person driving one, and look under the hood, and if your camera is handy, take pics of everything under the hood, diffrent angles, close ups and all.

That way you will have a better idea of what goes where.

ok so a buddy of mine helped me and the heads in the car and all i need is a name for the half moon gasket on the right of the motor directly under the valve cover and possibly a link to buy one, i need a timing belt tensioner and a p/s and a/c pulley, does anyone know what that pulley is called? any links to cheap ones? btw thanks for all the help.

correct me if im wrong, but is it called a tensioner pulley?

okay, so i found everything else, i just need to find a tensioner pulley and im all good to go, anyone have an extra one???

Also, I have a water temp gauge and an oil pressure gauge. For the oil, can I just screw the sending unit into the head on the side of it? If not, wheres a good place for that and for the water temp gauge? Thank you.
