well it means that there is a higher chance of getting it..not that if you get a 2600 you are going to get CW. I know a couple 2gs that are running it and havent ran into any problem yet. Its just something that raise the stakes. Sucks you cant really have the best of both worlds with this damn 7bolt.

And on that note, Of the 3 95 motors that crankwalked on me, the one with the 2600 lasted the longest. 50k miles (and that one wouldnt have CWed if I didnt make it) compared to 30k and 40k on stock clutch motors. Just some FYI, but I'm sure the heavier clutch doesnt help. So I agree with the above statement...

About the 7 bolt rebuild..i can see reasoning but why? seriously just spend a little more and get a more proven engine. I also agree with the statement "I refuse to give into CW"

I want to become the poster boy for 7 bolt rebuild power. ;)

From what I see in the poll, it looks like alot more people are doing fine with no problems than would be expected, especially on the newer 7 bolts. :D

I wander what a poll of 6 bolts would look like. The results might surprise everyone. OMG

I've got 51k on my '99 GSX with a ClutchMasters 2500lb, no problem yet. :thumb:

If my 97 GS-T with 75,500 miles will just hold on for atleast another year then she will be paid for, and it won't be as severe if I do get the dreaded CW. Seems to be holding up pretty good so far KNOCKS ON WOOD...

So far I have been through 3 motors the first two were crankwalk, the
third one ..... well that was my fault .:D

It had 77507 miles on it when it walked and now it have 3000. I think most people would be happy if this happen to them and they were in my same situation.

so did the warranty drop a 6 bolt or did u get another 7 bolt?

What kind of response did you guys get ?

I'm sure it can be reported to some sort of consumer protection agency.

I hate when it takes someone to die because of crank failure for Mutsu to act on it.
I have '91 1G which gave me a scare recently, but it turned out ot be a tranny (whew..)

we are basicly screwed. Alot of the cw cases have been on modded cars, so that means we can't use any of them as proof. even if we could, It would put mitsu out of biusnes if they had to put a new motor in every 2g turbo, so the will do anything to avoid it. I belive somebody allready tried to start a lawsuit, but it fell through.

I recall reading on a local DSM board about someone who actually got to speak with a Mitsubishi executive...boyfriend of girlfriend's friend, or something like that. The guy is supposed to have said that Mitsubishi is ignoring it, because if enough time passes by, most 2g's will be in junkyards and it won't matter anymore. Not to many 2g's are still under factory warrantys (if any), so I think it's probably a non-issue for them as far as their concerned. Was also to have said that they didn't know what caused it either. As far as "improved" later model engines, it makes you wonder...if they didn't know what caused it, how would they know how to fix it?

oh yeah, and 81k no crankwalk, ACT 2600 put in at around 70k

99 GST slightly modded at 47,000 miles, now has 52,000 and no CW yet.

Anyone know some good turners around northern IL that can hook me up with a new built up 6 bolt when I do walk?

Now I don't know crap about building up engines...I can just slap on bolt ons and reg maintence. Is there any way that measureing the crank will cause it to walk? I don't even like the thought of putting pressure against the crank if it's working ok right now... I'm thinking about getting my crank checked before I do my 60K mile tuneup.

What CWs more, GSX or GST? One would think the GSX with the extra drivetrain stress from the AWD...?

Nevermind, read that long post on the first page...weird...

Strange that manuals get it more then autos...I thought for sure clutch dumps on a AWD DSM might have been part of the problem...

I wonder how driving habits contribute to CW. I know I usually take off from a stop nice and easy and slip ok the clutch to make the transition into 1 as smooth as possible... Maybe he CW guy are really aggressive and do a lot of stop and go driving... Beats me :|
