Year: 1999
Engine: 7-bolt
Modded: minimal
Mileage: 118,569
Crank walked: 2 Days after i bought the car the engine crankwalked - Replacement engine has 75k.

I have an even better idea how about a truthful poll.

How about all these people that claim crank walk actual post the crank endplay that proves they actualy have crankwalk.

All of this is just adding to the problem unless REAL PROOF is given. I am willing to bet that more than 80% of the people that claim CW have no idea what the end play was. So please if you are going to claim CW then add end play to your stats.

Listen to the wiseman. I hate all the crap ppeople spew out about our cars because people aren't informed.

I second that.
my wife was looking through here and is SURE that its only a matter of time till my car goes down from crankwalk. I'm still trying to tell her its some stupid tiny percent of cars that get it.
never mind the fact that people throw heavy clutch preasure plates on there and wonder why it happens at all...
then tell the whole world its the cars fault?

1996 Eagle Talon TSi AWD
Miles 104,000
Crankwalk - no 7 bolt

my car had/has been running heavy pressure plates and 16g's 50' trims since at least 2002 (farthest I can trace it back) and it didnt crankwalk... just melted down

Had this motor since 84k on it and its done me well. Boosted 22-23psi on a HRC 20g for a long time and runs great.

Engine: 7 bolt
Modded: stock internals (stock clutch)
Mileage: 94k
Crankwalked: no

No more 7 bolt, now with a 6 bolt.

Year: 1991
Engine: 6 bolt
Modded: stock rods/crank w/ manley pistons (crank bal. and micro polished)
Mileage: 128k (rods/crank)
Crankwalked: no

Year: 1996
Engine: 7 bolt
Modded: Moderately
Mileage: 78k

Just an update, was under the car checking shaftplay, and... that thing is in there like no other, it wouldn't move a mm.... even with a prybar

What are the chances of getting crankwalk?( I have searched lots but no luck with my same situation)

Ok im 16 and have my daily driver now b/c my talon blew the water pump and it needs a new clutch. So i talked to a mechanic to have a bunch more stuff i need done. But im worried b/c its a 93 with a newer 94 motor and i know they are still capable of getting crankwalk but ive been thinking about selling it to get a 240 but i love my talon. So what are the chances of getting crankwalk in the longrun with around 250awhp and no symptoms yet.I only gave a set of wheels/tires for this badass car; there is so many parts already on it.

Ya i didnt think it would happen but just trying to make sure cause i dont have the money to keep doing this.
The car will be complete after this vist to the shop.

any car can get crankwalk. from a minivan to a tractor. just its more common in the 4g63 due to the retarded manufacturing/ crossover to the 7 bolt. 6 bolts arent crankwalk free, it can happen to them also. but dont worry about it becouse its nothing to really worry about in a pretty stock car. just be safe and keep everyhting checked up. oil starvation can kill

Your chances aren't that high, drive the car and dont let that worry you at all. I drive a 2g with a 7 bolt and right now im fixing it. Im still not worried about crankwalk. Do not let everyone who freaks out about 7 bolts get to you. DSMer's kinda act like highschoolers. Gossip Gossip Gossip.

Supposedly it's the 2G seven-bolts that have a supposed crankwalk 'problem', on the level of one in three eventually developing it... 95+. 1G seven-bolts (92.5-94) do not suffer from the problem, and can be considered virtually on the same level as the six-bolts, aside from smaller stock head bolts.

Don't worry about it. I'd still suggest picking up the 240 though if you have the extra dosh. There's a reason 'DSM' stands for 'Doesn't Start Mondays'. :)

True. My 6 bolt walked. No need to freak out, though. Just have the shop check for excessive crank end play. That will be a sure way to get to the bottom of it.

Doesnt start Mondays, hahahha. I wish I only had a problem getting mine started on Mondays, then the rest of the week would be worry freeLOL

Well i appreciate it guys.. So should i get an after market oil pressure gauge or will my logger tell me that info.
But if a motor gets crankwalk what kind of parts are killed in the process ,what kind of $$$$$$$$$

I believe that if it hasn't crankwalked by 80k your good to go, I've had mine for a while and I've been modding it for a few years no problems.
