Estimate on price for a rebuild? Worth upgrading to a billet wheel?

What would you say that this is worth?

Thanks for the response as well! And move LOL

I'm not a vendor- if you're inquiring about a service, you must send the person a PM. It's in the rules.

Depends what you plan on doing with it and whether you value spending $150+ on a billet wheel versus $50ish for an aftermarket OEM replacement.

Bought this and was told it is an HX40. There is no tag on it and I can't seem to find much with Google. Is it a legit Holset, and is it a legit HX40? I measured the inducer at 59.97mm. I have called numerous Holset distributors and not one can pull any of those numbers up in their system.

If I'm looking at Holsets locally at the junkyard or whatever, all the CHRA's will say "HOLSET" with the CHRA part number correct ?

Is this a legit Holset and what kind ? Thanks!

Its definitely a holset, they made the turbo's for the cummins engines. Seeing that it's an 8blade, could be an 8blade HX35 equivalent.

H1E.

Be advised the H1E's that use the huge 26cm2 turbine housing like the one in your example normally use the oddball 76/67mm turbine wheel that no aftermarket turbine housing(s) will fit. You may want to do some measuring before you seal the deal on this one.

From the looks of it and since I am unable to have it, to take it apart; is it safe to say that it won't work?

Genuine?? It looks legit to me but just want a second opinion. Thanks!

Yup, although that is a TINY compressor inducer for a HX35. Appears to be 50mm or so, which isn't much larger than an Evo III 16G.

I'd ask for compressor specs before buying just to be sure you don't end up with a dud.

Thanks for the quick reply JusMX141! On the ad he states it's a 54mm compressor inducer.

You may want to double-check that. The photos is blurry and the area in question is dirty, but it appears the inlet has that "second step-down" that denotes a 50mm compressor....like the cover in the photo:

Being that it's a natural gas application, I wouldn't be surprised is the seller is misinformed.

Sure looks that way.

Like I've said before, 99% of the time it's pretty obvious that they're not Genuine- so most people are getting worried nothing.

not sure if its been mentioned, but holset has a really cool video on their website to spread awareness of counterfeit turbos. They even go as far as to say something along the lines of "think about if your children were on a school bus that had a counterfeit holset"

Where did you get this turbo from? It looks very familiar.

Hey 2gmitsueclipse. I got this turbo from a guy in florida. He said he bought an overstock of cummins parts and just was reselling them.
