Well I tore the head off today. I bent 2 intake valves but other than that we are all good up there. The block on the other hand is a total loss. The eagle rod that was in there snapped right in the center. It ended up ripping a hole right through the oil pan and broke through the block(ended up taking out my starter). The piston came out and the attached rod still floats on the pin. The rod still rotates on the crank. It was simply a part failure. I found some water but not enough to point right at hydro-locking. So here is some carnage

ouch !! Whats the details on the next bottom end ?

I am collecting parts to sell to help fund the next engine.

The next engine will be a 7 bolt, Wiseco 1.5HD 10.5:1, BME aluminum rod, stock crank, our custom profile crane cams, Kiggly springs, Ferrea 1mm over valves, Tyler's port work, our custom filled block setup, 1/2 in head stud, welded head, perma torque HG, ect, ect...

Should be able to order the bottom end stuff once I sell this head and my AEM.

The permatorque was designed by the guy who has help build the fastest 4g door car in the U.S. and also has an 8 sec 2g. No orings and just a permatorque.

What all is invloved in this "welded head" you speak of, if you don't mind me asking?

Keep up the great work, my next motor will be a alum rod motor for sure.

Also, why a 7 bolt block? still running a 1g head?

It was a 7 bolt block, 2g head. My power goals have increase and we decided on a 1g head with a 7 bolt block. I like my 7 bolts. Never had an issue with a 7 bolt so I see no need to swap over to a 6.

I will post pictures of my crazy ideas about the welded head, filled block.

We get all of our heads welded shut by ETS. They use a harder filler rod also.

It's a must for a filled block. John I do not know if your stuck on the BME rods or not. I know they are a great rod but I would take a look at a set of R&R's. We run them in our 900+hp Evo spinning it to 10k rpm all the time. There the same Rod that Magnus uses for there Aluminum Rod Methanol motors also.

Ya we are pretty stuck on them. We have been using them in all of our AL rod builds forever and never had an issue. I am sure RNR is good but this connecting rod debate goes up with all the steel rod debates as well. I order through a supplier but we talked to them about the entire rod, They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. FWIW AMS uses/used BME rods.

Well I finally got a block to start the engine work.

New engine consists of-
Custom 10.8:1 Wiseco 1.5HDs
Custom BME Aluminum rods
Factory balanced crank/rotating assembly
Filled block
Welded head
Ferrea Valves
Kiggly springs
Kiggly HLA

Here are some pictures.

Setting the block up to be deck. We ensure the block is leveled to the cutter in both axis.

Here is a video of my crank spinning on the balancer.

Its pretty crazy that the speed is only 500 rpm LOL... I will most likely bore the block tomorow and hopefully find a head to start working on.

Ya I will drive it on the street. We have been talking about my fill options at the shop for a week or more and decided on a full fill and an electric water pump. I am thinking of pushing the stock converter deeper and see how it goes.

Considering some type of anti ballon plate. I need to contact some TC companies when I pull the engine all the way out. The filled block has been used by quite a few people rolling around on the street with no cooling issues. I will monitor oil temp but on a side note where does most of the oil end up..

I got the block bored today. The block fill will be here tomorrow and when that is all done I will finish it up with a torque plate hone.

2 holes down I switch the boring anchor

All done and in the parts cleaner

What ever it tells me to.. Probably all weekend or more. I have some other things I have to do to it yet. 1/2 head stud conversion. ARP main install and check bore.

Just had a pretty awesome talk with Kiggly about filled blocks and if there is anyone that can change my mind it is him. Going to be doing a 1/2 fill with a twist. Will upload pictures this weekend.
