Comp Turbo Died Today.

It's 23 now? Up in post 42 it was 32 psi. It's gotten worse?

Yup gotten worse! I went through everything I know today with no success. I will give it another shot tomorrow testing. Even though my old turbo died the thing that gets me is that it stop making boost all of a sudden. Now that the new turbo is on the car and spooling extremly slow and making 23 psi at 8200 rpm leads me to believe that I am loosing pressure somewhere I have looked and looked, starred and scratched my head nothing! I have leaked down tested results good. I am stumped:confused:

Well, if you are spooling extremely slow, maybe your wastegate is stuck open?

I took the wastgate off the car made a block plate and still results. Car starts to build boost at 4500rpm 5psi. 23 by redline. I boost leaked tested the car again and checked for every possible leaks none. This turbo may just be way to big. I will change the ERL manifold out and put the ramhorn back on to see if this helps.

Incredible.
I don't know what to say, except it would be interesting if you could put a completely different turbo on there, like your old Borg if you still have it, and see if the same thing happens.

Are you using a larger a/r turbine housing now then you were on the last go-around?

I put the .82ar housing on and its was worse than what it is now. Therefore I put the .63 back on. I think my fuel filter may be stopped up also will change tomorrow..

Disconnect your exhaust at the o2 housing... you may have a restriction, could be a colapsed flexpipe???

Could the compressor housing be incorretly machined? Is there a rats nest or rag in the exhaust, dont laught ive seen both LOL. Is there a cat on the car, I know none of us use them but ya never know

Well I did find one contributing factor a bolt came out of my compressor housing. it helped with spool but I am not there yet:|

well long story short tried a whole lot of things this week and still have the boosting issue not as bad but definitely can be better. Boost response is quick but will not go over 25 psi. I will be back at it this week. Dwight the quaife lsd wasn't damage I broke intermediate shaft gear I ended up getting a new one and installed it tranny rebuild all over again all is good now so my thoughs on tranny not allowing the engine to load is out the window daggummitt:barf:

My holset did this but it was the BOV leaking, it even passed a BLT but i could hear the air louder than normal, you might want to try blocking it off for a pull... THe ones with a lower and upperv vac line REALLY tend to leak when using the bottom vac port for "quick opening action"

He and I have had a few discussions. His POS Forge BOV is leaking LOL. I'm not 100% sure but there is a very very strong possibility he may even have more leaks on top of the BOV.

any updates?

I been very busy lately haven't had much time to work on the car. I did make some minor improvements in spool by changing the wastgate and disconnecting the downpipe now I can hit 30psi and quickly.

Any updates?

After fixing a few other issues the main culprit and don't ask me why, turned out to be the POS comp turbocharger. the turbo is not designed right. Me and a buddy took the comp unit off the car and installed his used pte 6262 journal bearing turbo and man what a heck of a difference the car spools super fast and hits full boost 38psi around 5000rpm and pulls much harder than the comp 6765 unit that came off the car I am just totally shocked after almost a year of trying to work with comp on getting me the right turbine and compressor wheel combo for my set up and $2800.00 later just to fine out that their turbos suck. I ordered the new pte ball bearing 6466 CEA unit and will be installing it when it get in and my work load tapers off. I will post a overlayed dyno comparison sheet of the pte 6466 CEA vs comp CT4 6765 for the benefits of the boards. Just a word of caution when purchasing a turbocharger do your research get on the other boards and read read read tract times look at dyno sheets talk to people who have used a certain brand of turbo and get their feedback and don't get caught up in what is advertised on some website, like I did, because some companies pay big bucks for advertisement design to overrate their products. Comp is certainly on of those companies:rolleyes:
