I had to take some things apart the other day and the CAS was one of em. I was wondering if it needs to be adjusted since it has moving room left an right with the bolts. So is there like a stock setting I can put it to or do i just put it in any random position.

Thank you everyone who takes the time to read.

Yes, that is how your base timing is set. You need to get it back to where it was before if the car was running before with that same cas. Maybe you can see where the nuts were holding it down and put it in the same spot. ;) If not you will have to set your base timing.

thank you man. I really appreciate it. An dang I cant see where it was before. But as I sent it all thae way 1 way then to the other side it made wierd changes. 1 side made car idle up down up down 800 rpms to like 2000. then the other way made it idle low an kinda smooth but when i give it gas the gas stays up for like 5-6 seconds at 3-4k rpm till it falls back. Then I tried going inbetween but I cant seem to find the sweet spot. Is there a way to line it up? Cause with timing belt its easy just line up all the marks but here I dont see any guide to it.

The CAS can only go into the cam two ways, correctly and 180 degrees off.

Make sure that you are really grounding the pin for the timing adjust connector and not the plastic guard and that you have disconnected any datalogger (grounding pin 10 on the DLC at the same time will set the BISS adjustment mode not timing adjust mode)

Bump....still need to know. And the hayness manual doesn't actually say which way.

Are you not using a timing light? because if you were, then you'd quickly find out that clockwise is advancing and counter clockwise is retarding

Yes I was but I couldn't read the marks all that well. On my cover all I see is a mark at the very bottom, the the BDC mark then a 10 then a mark above it and one with a T I don't see a Zero so I didn't know which way was which.

I thought the base timing was advanced and that was the route of my problems so I put a light on it and saw it looked like it was at 15 (in the sun so it was hard to see period) so I moved it forward...clock wise untill it was at the mark below 10 thinking that was 5* base.... guess it's a good thing I wanted to make sure before I took it for a test drive. It is already pulling 3.5* Ign timing @ WOT around 5,000rpm at only 17psi. So I guess I just made that problem worse...

*goes outside to put it back where it was*...
