Hello fellow tuners,

The past week up here in Minnesota has been well below zero. I just finished working on my sled and pulled it out side to make room for working on my talon.

I was at work and gave my dad the simple task of pulling the car into the garage. He told me he let it warm up -give or take 10 mins and pulled it into the garage.

I then arrived home from work- to see a trail of oil in the garage leading to my car. I quick turned the car off and opened the hood to see this.

I did purchase 3rd Gen. revised lifters and was first on the list of things to do. So i will be doing that within the next couple days and would like to solve this problem at the same time.

My questions are.
1. What is it that blew? my guess is a Cam Shaft seal?
2. What would cause this to blow?

Cam plug, on the 1g and later 2g's have the CAS at that point.

You have a cam and crank sensor.

With the VC off check and see if the cam cap bolts are loose.

Next reason for it to pop out would be excessive crank case pressure.

I believe you are right. Do you know the part number on this "Cam Plug" ....searched for awhile and could only come up with what URBANSMOKER1 Posted.

Im going to look into my PVC valve to see if that could have been the problem for excessive crank case pressure or maybe it just got old.

I would install it dry.

You can knock it in, personally I would pull the VC and loosen the 2 bolts on that cap, and slip it in and tighten the cam cap bolts.

This way you get the crush to hold it in place.

I was told by someone that had a similar problem to check my turbo seals. So I pulled off my intake to see oil dripping out of it and to see oil just sitin in my turbo... :(

Well when I orderd my cam plug I did order a new pvc valve. And during the summer before It got parked it pulled amazingly and it was rebuilt with less then 2000 miles I hope its not blown. How would I go about to see if oil is going from my valve cover to my intake/turbo ? Or do you think this could all be a result from my cam plug blowing and throwing oil everywhere?

What you are seeing is pretty normal if you are still using the factory crank case vent system. This is due to oil getting past the baffle in the valve cover and into the Intake pipe. A catch can is a good fix for this.

you have to first check and see, if your shaft is fine on your turbo, then its probably not that, you could use clear see-through hose or unplug the hoses your V,C uses to ventilate to see if your pushing oil. (Side note * the seat-belt ?)

So what I am hearing is more then likely that the stock ventalation system is pushing oil into my intake and then into my turbo. So if I test this and find out yes I am pushing oil into my intake. Then I can fix this with a catch can. But would there have been any damage to the turbo in the 15 mins that it was running ?

That much oil getting coming out of the VC on a motor with only 2k on it suggests to me you have bigger issues.

With the S200sx running boost in the upper 30s I never saw that much with just a filtered VC breather and New OE PCV for a crankcase evac system.. just saying.
