Broke A Piston Wrist Pin.

Wow, that's a weird spot for the pin to break. Good to see CP stand behind their products, especially on a "race part." Good luck with the next build, I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

I just recently had a wrist pin pull out of the bottom of a wiseco piston. The pin was fine though. This was a piston kit I purchased back in 2004 when Wiseco was still kind of new to the DSM scene. The other three pistons all had small cracks forming around the area that retains the wrist pin. You're lucky you didn't have a rod bash holes through both sides of your block :|

Thanks man it good to get some sort of positive especially during these most difficult times rebuilding. LOL. Yeah I am fortunate that the block wasn't damaged too badly:cool: Read my lips I will do better than 700whp on my next dyno!!! And this all for the haters.

How were the pins in the rest of the pistons? I had mine apart over the summer to rering it, and the skirts were collapsed on all 4 and the pins were tight. To the point I think they could have galled if I kept running it. I had the pin bores pin honed for clearance, and put it back together. Runs like a dream.

Hey dude you hijacking my thread bastarddsm start your own thread to answer questions I don't want misinformed advice here please. Show some respect!!!

I can vouch for keltalon. I've watched him hammer on his powertrain ruthlessly for a long time now. Pin break was an unusual failure but no fault of his own. That car is beast! Might be as fast as mine ;)

From the research I've done recently, seems like the weakest link now will be the crank....go ahead and get one and shoot for the 1000hp mark.

outside of the YouTube pulls and dyno runs I have posted finally from the mouth of someone who has not only rode in the car but who has witnessed the many beatdowns it has dished out. I never ask why the pin broke I know why it broke fatigue! I didn't start doing this yesterday. I see guys professionals blow engines and break transmissions everytime I go to the track. Here is something else i have proved the benefits of the cyclone manifold in the past with dyno comparisonon on my setup with a large turbo all of a sudden I get a pm from an unknown telling me that I am an idiot for running it. Some peoples are clueless. My motto if it works for you and you are happy that's all that matters:rolleyes: I sometimes wonder where is the heck these unknowns come from?

by the way here is the pull where the pin broke I could feel the car lose power badly.

The only one misinformed is you bud. I would think talking about wrist pins in a thread titled "broken wrist pins" wouldn't be hijacking, but then again I didn't make 573 on a huge turbo either, so what do I know.

Here is a fact of life you make horsepower you will break something. Some unlike me will not post everytime they do break something, Believe the hype if you want that's your right.
You are dead on with that statement. Alot of the guys I know who ran a number have blown or hurt their motor, fixed it...... and claim to never have hurt their motor. Or even lied on what got hurt. Then some are altering their motors/parts by special processes and not saying so. There is alot of BS going on! Kel's keep doing what you do on the research side. Keep getting actual data and giving it to the community unfiltered. It's good to see CP man'd up on what happened

^That looks like sex man, love to see a nice shiny block. Don't forget to check the bore clearances, the "good" shop i used gave me the clearance i was asking for on all of 1 cylinders  i guess they figured the other 3 weren't as important.
