So I have these brand new manley wrist pins and new eagle rods. The pin goes in the piston and its pretty tight, but when I grab the piston and move the rod, i can feel a very tiny bit of play. Is that normal? is it because of the floating type piston. I cant remember how this was with the pistons on my other car.

Thanks

it sounds right to me. the rod should be able to slide easily on the wrist pin. the slight amout of play is because it has to have a small amount of clearance to allow for movement and to oil the bearing

small end bearing

Have you checked the clearances? .0008"-.0015" depending on the application is a normal clearance. Most of the time the Piston to pin clearance is to tight.

Just as rings must be fit to the bores, rod small ends and piston bosses need to be fit to the pins.

People think you can bolt parts together and go. It doesn't work like that. Every clearance must be measured, and corrected if it's not in spec.
