This question is a big NO NO. Turbos are purly based on opinion and what you want out of them. There have been sooo many posts on this topic. So the best turbo for a 2g is soley based on what you think is the best!!! Try out extremeturbo.com, forcedperformance.com adn any other site that sells the typical mitsu turbos...good luck!

Oh and keep in mind all the other mods you should perform before thinking of getting a turbo. Tuning/performance guide at this site any many others will give a great start...

Oh, that's easy! It would be the ETR-48 (AKA Pink, AKA GTM50) turbo with the BB center section, dynamic balancing shafts and titanium coated wheels with anti-lag cahougent valves. It is a linear bi-polarized design with 2-stage centrifugal advance with upgraded flow paths (the latest turbo technology!)

It is adaptable (flows whatever your engine flows) so you never need to upgrade again. It responds very well to few (if any) mods. It is roughly 96% efficient. Full boost comes in just above idle and it will pump out 30 PSI (or more) past 8500 RPM if you ask it to. It doesn't like big exhausts, so it works best with the stock exhaust. Someone I know has done 10.38 @ 133 in the 1/4 with this turbo and Jimmy swears by it!! I will be running one soon.

Ok i have a 97 talon tsi a/t. my mods are listed in my profile. i plan on doing a turbo upgrade, but i'm having a hard time deciding which turbo to go with. I have it narrowed down to 3 & thats the FP big28, FPbig16, & hahn super16g. I really think i'd like the super16g, but i'm not sure if i can come out of the hole good w/o a high stall converter due to the 10cm turbine housing& i dont have that kind od money right now. If i get the FPbig28 then i will purchase a fuel pump & boost controller separatly, but their big 16g kit comes with it. Same with super16g. Also i'm leaning more towards the super16g b/c it bolts up just like a t25 & also comes with a 3" o2 housing. Do yall think the big16g will out flow the big28? Please help me out fellas.

First off, forget the HRC. 10cm housings suck. Also, it is PITA to install and has not been a proven performer.

Secondly I don't know if you are talking about a standard Big 16G from FP or their Sleeper 16G. The Sleeper 16G is a lot bigger than the others. If you are talking about the standard Big16, that's a good turbo too. The advantage of the FPBig28 is that it bolts right on. Between those two I don't think you can go wrong but the 28 is a direct bolt on.

I heard of people having problems spooling up the Hahn Super 16g with the stock TC. I have ran a 12.7 with out nitrous but that was with three huge boost leaks that I currently fixed. They where really bad. I'm praty sure I could have ran at least a 12.5 if I woulnd't have had those leaks. Track is closed till next year now :( . I have the normal FP T28/28 unported. I think the BIG 16G might have a bit more power in it. Jhon Saker ran a 12.1 @ 112 with it on he's A/T with the stock TC and race gas.

Amen! nano really seems to know his stuff in every post I've read of his.

IRT the subject, I would also stay away from huge exhaust housings on an A/T. I believe nano would concur that many on the A/T DSM list discourage using larger than necessary due to the previously mentioned problems in spooling it with an A/T car. I plan on getting the smallest available on whatever turbo I decide to go with, probably 7cm.

Thanks for the info. guys. I still haven't made up my mind. Whats the diff. between a big16g & FP sleeper 16g. The big16g kit is what i was lookin at. It comes with a big16g ported w/ 34mm wg flapper, install kit, braided ss oil line, 255lph FP, & joe p. BC for for $1115. I'm on a very tight budget here, about $1300. Thats also having to port my ex. manifold & o2housing. I'd love to have a tubular 3" w/ external dump, but money permiting i'll just have to wait & see.

Thanks for the compliments :) ..
Well the sleeper 16G from FP is far from being a normal 16G. It's a hell of a turbo though. A buddy of mine just got one and from what I understand It has a 20G compressor wheel and a green turbine wheel but looks like a 16G. He says it dosen't reach full boost untill 4000rpm but he also has web cams. I bet spool up numbers of close to 3500rpm with the stock cams might be posible. I'd call FP for more details.

Wow! FP really upped the price of that kit...it used to be 900$, thats what i got mine for. It depends on what your goals are, but I would either go with the big16g or the 28. They are both very similar in all aspects and both have been proven (althoug the 16g a little more). The 28 will bolt up and be a bit easier to install, but I know FP's kit comes with all you really need. I have the big16g from FP and Im in love with it. Ive ran 3 times at the track so far, with blown struts/stock susp. and boost leaks, and ran 12.9 and 12.8 @20 psi in hot ass wheather... They definetly have potential.

I also would listen to them and stay away from HRC 10cm housing stuff. I have no creep or spike, with a ported 2g man. and extreme o2 elim and Im using the Joe P that came with my kit...rock solid:dsm:

Thanks again for the helpfull info. Well i'm still debating on the big28 or 16g kit, but i'm gonna check into the sleeper 16g. Think i'm just gonna call them & talk to them about my application. Ya know, i want a turbo that i can run now with just a fuel pump upgrade, but once i get all the supporting mods I want to already have a turbo that will get me to the low 12's. Ohhhhh damn it! Decisions decisions.

Oh, I meant to ask if anyone has heard good things about the new Extremeturbo mutt turbos. I wouldnt mind having a eta32 but damn i cant see paying $1370 & another $215 for install kit. The only person i know of around here with one is boostjunkie & he has run a best of 8.0 in 1/8 & 12.7 in 1/4

have any of you guys had auto tranny problems with the high stall t/c or preformance mods. I know my tranny keeps breakin down and i have very few preformance mods done to my talon! just curious if anyone has ran into any problems and if not has ayone done wnything to thier tranny to upgrade it. Thanx in advance!

The only tranny mods you really need are the shift kit and end clutch upgrade. Read through the new Automatic Transmission Tech forum at dsmtalk for more info. The consensus is that the auto tranny itself is decently robust, more so than the 5-speed.

First off your wrong about the Hahn S16G. It spools, 3200 at 16psi, just as fast as my friends Big 16G and pulls harder on the top end. Secondly I bought the T3 manifold so the install was a peice of cake. And I will be running a low 13's wiht it, then with more mods 12's for sure. And it's been proven around here, hit 12's and 11's in two different cars. Secondly listen to Nano he knows his stuff. I do suggest you looking into the tranny mods.
