I believe they were 8 x 1.25, but I would just take the stock ones and go to ACE to use their metric chart. However, I do know that the hex cap one uses a 13mm ratchet.

Ah. So it uses the stock bolts from the T25 oil drain flange??

hmm, when I did my first 50 trim swap, I do remember having to get a different sized bolt, that's why I suggested it in the first place. My mistake. I guess there is only one way to tell, take off your stock bolt and see if it bolts up. When I think about it, the stock bolt is a 6 x 1.25 and is too small for you to use on the garrett/t-netics CHRA. My suggestion would be to try out various size bolts that you may have around and then just go pick up some new ones after that. a 12-14mm length would be long enough.

You said you had to double up on turbo-mani gaskets untill you could get the SBR manifold. So the SBR manifold fixed the clearance problem? I have the older SBR manifold and I still had to double up on gaskets for the OIL supply to clear the manifold. Really sucks.

I doubled up on the 7cm gaskets with my stock 2g manifold to get clearance. I have SBR's new style cast manifold and there is more than enough room with the single gasket. I didn't have any exhaust leaks with both gaskets on my 2g manifold, so I didn't see it as a big issue, but then again I knew I was getting the SBR one soon.

Nice install, and great turbo choice, but I always thought that since PTE started making the "SCM" versions of their 50trim's, they were made so you didn't have to bend the water pipe...Kinda a Bummer that you have to go through all of this work and the install kits don't even come with all the needed hardware...

Post more pics and vids when you make them:thumb:

Did you guys see how I routed my oil line? Everything bolted right up with no problems using my existing hardware...

kraka- thanks :thumb: I'll definitely put up vids when I'm ready :)

I didn't have to dent my water pipe at all with my stock 2g manifold. There was plenty of room between the compressor and the pipe.

Mine was already dented when i got the car but it was necessary for me. I would have had to do it anyways as the turbo comes really close to it now even with it dented.

Just bringing this thread back up. I have finally gotten my car running and I too have noticed the whining noise of my turbo. I will be shortly ordering the water line kit from a vendor and hoepfully that will solve the problem.

I'm having some crazy troubles with misc. things right now, but for the one gear I did a WOT pull (before it started to sputter and stall ) I can already tell that this thing spools wicked fast.

cool. :thumb:

i have a few questions about install parts.. i bought a dsmparts T04b 50 trim from a friend w/ 200 miles on it. anyways i need the gaskets and lines. for the gaskets i bought the speed factor mani which comes with the inlet gasket. now would an evo 3 02 housing gasket work? http://www.slowboyracing.com/more.php?id=1656&mods=21-9637
where is the cheapest place to buy the crush washers and water/oil line gaskets?
in the purchase he included a ss oil feed line. i saw that i needed aftermarket water lines. where did you guys get yours from? and one more question, if i were to pull the exhaust housing off to port and polish it do i need to mark the position of anything? will i need any to replace any gaskets? or do i just pull it off and bolt it back up? thanks for the help

Easiest way to see if the gasket will fit is to hold it up to turbo and see how well it lines up. You may need to do alittle triming to get everything to line up right.

The water lines can be bought either straight from PTE or www.dejonpowerhouse.com.

And i believe you should be able to just pull the exhaust housing off and throw it back on when your done. Though if you'd like to be safe then by all means mark where it was positioned originally.

damn $74 for water lines?? what o2 gasket did everyone use? i have to order one off of the internet soon (t25 took a crap on me) so any advice would be appreciated.

I E-mailed PTE about the water lines and this is the response I got

"Steve,

As long as the turbo is seeing the correct amounts of water and oil,
it may not be necessary to upgrade your water lines. In any case, it is essential to run both liquids through the turbocharger.

Joe @ Precision Turbo"

Now - how do I know if it is getting the "correct" amount?

These types of turbine housings are designed to use a stock o2 gasket. Just order a new one and you should be set :thumb:

Yes, thats the kit. I bought direct from PTE and they said the water line kit was necessary. I picked it up for an additional $40 and am actually really glad I did.

The tubing is way bigger than the stock 2g style water lines and installing them was no harder than installing stock lines.

$40?? I just called PTE & ordered it straight from them...$75. :|

glad to see i am not the only one having problems with installling this thing. i was beginning to feel kind of dumb! has anyone ported a bullseye housing? someone told me that all the aftermarket housing won't benefit from porting. is this true?

The most common AR i've seen tossed around for the bullseye housing is .55 A/R. IMO any casted housing can be ported for better flow / less boost creep.

I got mine at cost :p

Either way I had a definate improvement in the performance of the turbo with the water line kit.

Tom - did that whining noise stop after you put the water line kit on?

Any of you doing the swap selling your old turbos in good condition?
PM me with turbo size and price if you are.

Thanks.
I will be selling anything I can..T25, exhaust manifold, O2 housing, upper & lower intercooler pipes (Dave Brode upper, RRE lower), side mount intercooler, 1G BOV..even the damn plastic intake snorkel! haha.

I'm actually looking for a turbo bigger than a 16g, which is what i have on there now.

Matt, I haven't had time to get my car back to "running condition", so I haven't even ordered the lines yet. I do have to comment that the turbo whining sounds just like a loose Type-S. Kind of annoying if you ask me.

Finally! My talon is back on the road! safe to say she's not perfect, but at least she runs. I started easing on the gas with about 60% throttle (AFC reading) and the car misfires a whole bunch for a second and then finds its way to a very strong pull. This thing spools like a 16G! it's insane.I am seeing 17 psi by 3600 rpms (kind of laggy, but that's because of the tune). Tonight was 32* out and she was holding 17psi STRONG with a 2 psi spike. I did a short WOT pull (felt ballsy) and logged it, even though it was against my better judgement to do so. Anyway, here's the log, I'm happy with the results considering it's only 17 psi and on a VERY rough tune.
