So I had my balance shaft belt brake and only took out my crank sensor. I had been planning to install my 1g cas so decided to do it now. My question is in regards to the trigger plate for the crank sensor. Can I remove it now that I am not using it? Thanks.

Someone will chime in but yes I think you are correct. I had a bs belt strip all its teeth off and destroyed the crank sensor. I did a timing job and bs belt replaced and also slapped on the 1g cas, everything was fine. I left cam, crank sensor and trigger plate in with no issues.

Since you're going to use a 1g CAS to supply both cam and crank signals and won't even have the crank sensor connected, yes you can remove the trigger plate and the crank sensor. If the trigger plate isn't bent or damaged (although it most likely now is after the BS belt broke) I'd just leave it in there (and just remove the crank sensor) in case the 1g CAS doesn't work out.

It was bent. As long as it doesn't serve another purpose I'm removing it. Car atleast started with 1g cas before I removed timing cover. Installed 1g cas to confirm problem with crank sensor and then found balance shaft belt broken as suspected also. So I hope to not have any problems with it. Thanks for the reply.

I'm crossing my fingers for you man but sounds like you got it figured out. After replacing my bs belt and just slapping on the 1g cas I drove the car for almost 2 years (till I totaled it) no problems at all, as long as the cas you got is good working order and wired in correctly.

Used ecmlink cable. Now car only turns over and no start. Keep getting a crank sensor code. Swapped wires and inverted cas sigal. Dont understand why it wont run now when it did before I changed belts.

You're kind of fragmented, you put another balance shaft belt back on the car correct?

The plate will help separate the two belts should it happen again. Also you gain the benefit of not cutting corners fixing your own car. If you paid some one to fix it would you want them to do a half ass repair or do it 100%. Im not saying youre wrong at all, id just never half ass the most critical part of these cars

I guess we will see what happens. In my opinion its not half assed because Im removing unused parts. If it breaks again and takes out the timing belt then I have more work to do but I will do it myself and learn from it.
