AWD Carrier Bracket – Broken Stud(s)?

Hey Guys,

Anyone encounter breaking either the front or rear driveshaft carrier bracket studs (AWD)?

A few years ago I snapped one of my front carrier bracket studs (I should have installed new hardware while I was doing the AWD swap – lesson learned ) but I was able to "fish" in a new bolt to fix the issue. It's possible on one side of the front bracket as there's a little space to fish in a bolt, but not on the other side and/or on the rear bracket. The fix works however I can't really tighten it down as the bolt keep spinning as it's impossible to grab the bolt head. I was thinking about getting a few tack welds added to the exposed side thus preventing it from spinning but never really got around to it (yet)

Question for you guys out there ..... how would one fix this if this happened to the ones (3 out of 4) that are impossible to fish in a new bolt?

Any ideas / suggestions / comments?

i am having the same issue with one on my 93 talon. i think the way i am going to fix it is by cutting the mount, removing the broken stud, replace and tack weld new one in place and then weld the case back together. Did you find an easier way to fix this issue?
